Admissions Procedures

The Miami Full-Time Admission Committee assesses each candidate on a number of dimensions including academic performance and professional leadership experience. Miami seeks students with the intellectual and interpersonal abilities to contribute to the classroom experience, to excel academically, and who possess the leadership potential to succeed.

Admissions Requirements

Transcripts, resume, essay, letter of recommendation, GMAT/GRE, TOEFL, IELTS, or the Duolingo English Test for international students.
Test waivers are available, however GRE/GMAT scores are encouraged to obtain higher scholarship opportunities

Admission interviews are a requirement of the Miami MBA application process for those candidates who meet the program requirements and are conducted by faculty.

Academics

The MBA program has a mix of case-based, experiential, and traditional lecture styles over a quarter-based semester schedule.  The Miami MBA requires 57 credits to graduate which is comprised of 28 classes or 47 credits of core courses as well as five elective courses (10 credits).  This program does not offer specialization or majors.

Faculty

Miami Herbert has approximately 160 faculty members who teach across nine academic departments.  Those departments include: Accounting, Business Law, Business Technology, Economics, Finance, Health Management and Policy, Management, Management Science, and Marketing.  Many faculty members actively contribute to groundbreaking research across various fields. Major conferences hosted include: the Behavioral Finance Conference; the Business of Blockchain Technology; the Business of Health Care; Real Estate Impact; the Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) Summit & Symposium

Campus Life

The University of Miami Herbert Business School is home to many open spaces where MBA students gather to catch up and/or study. This may include grabbing a seat at a patio table in the courtyard alongside the Business School, in the breezeway on the 1st floor near the empanada stand, and along the canal where you can spot iguanas, wild birds, and occasionally a manatee. Students can grab a seat on a “glider” or find a table to enjoy the view from the Lakeside Patio. Indoors, students have dedicated study space in the de la Cruz Study Center, also known as the “Fish Bowl” and can relax or study between classes in the Graduate Student Lounge near the Unanue Graduate Career Advancement Center.

Clubs, Conferences & Competitions

Graduate students at Miami Herbert gain access to a vibrant community of over 500 peers and a diverse range of clubs, including the Consulting Club, Women in Business Club, Graduate Business Student Association, and many more, offering both professional and social engagement opportunities.
The following conferences draw thousands of attendees each year and offer students unique networking opportunities. The Miami Business School’s Annual Real Estate Impact Conference, the Behavioral Finance Conference; the Business of Blockchain Technology; the Business of Health Care; the Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) Summit & Symposium.
Some notable competitions include: Miami Leadership Challenge, National Black MBA Case Competition, CFA Research Challenge, CFA Ethics Challenge, Impact Investing in Commercial Real Estate Competition, PRMIA Risk Management Challenge, GBSN/DHL Social Logistics Challenge… 50+ global case competitions are available for grad business students to participate in every year.
