anon17670 Likes Earned: 318 Congratulations on your admissions offers to McDonough, GT and Owen with scholarships. Based on your post-MBA goals all 3 programs will land you in consulting. However, if funding is a huge factor in your decision making Owen with 80% scholarship might be the obvious choice. Do you have a location preference for your post-MBA goal, it might help to make your decision based on the employment location for each of the program. Have you considered the culture at GT vs Owen? It might help to speak to students at both programs to understand culture fit. Best of luck. (3)

anon69453 Likes Earned: 27 Thank you both! @anon17670 I am not too picky about location- anywhere that is not the East Coast. My partner moved to Nashville for work, but Atlanta seems like a better location plus it'll only be a 4 hr drive to Nashville. I do like everyone that I have met at Owen and it feels like home already. @anon10646 Yes, I was awarded a fellowship (they have not told me how much yet, but I know the minimum is 20k.. so 10k a year. I was also offered a half graduate research assistant position. (1)

McDonough does not list geo breakdown of their placement, but based on the focus metros they list you'd assume it is primarily Northeast based, so makes sense why 'GT or Vandy' per your locations. As noted, if consulting is the goal, Scheller and Owen have near identical consulting placement and comp stats, though Owen is on BB target list and Scheller seems to only be on Bain's. I would assume both have strong placements with T2 and boutiques. You also listed 'Twitter' as a company, so how much is Tech a possibility? Since Scheller would be much stronger there. Scheller does not break out by region either, but I'd guess it's very South, Texas, and West. Owen is 40% south with mostly even spread across the other regions. So both are going to give you your location preferences. ATL is a major hub for the south, but Nashville is a growing area because of TN's corporate policies and Miami/FL is growing, so you can have prospects other than ATL. If you want ATL, then GT is naturally going to be prime, but Owen would seem to easily get you there as well. (Personal aside, I think Nashville is a nicer/livable city than Atlanta, although I've heard it's become a bit kitschy). I think unless there is something that particularly pulls you to Scheller over Owen, assuming awards are ~92k v 20k, it seems tough not to go with the better offer. (1)

My background is in Digital Consulting/Marketing, so I am open to tech companies in the case that I cannot get into consulting without a GRE/GMAT score. I only started to worry about this after UT hinted that they were hesitatant about me landing an internship in Consulting without the test scores (They had called me on decision day to ask for my plan B and I said entrepreneurship). Looks like Owen is leading. I am still waiting on details of the GT scholarship. (1)

anon10646 Likes Earned: 783 Yup, a lot will depend on funding as class profiles, locations, target industry prospects etc each are close. If you internet search 'Should Business-School Hopefuls Skip the GMATs? Some of Their Power May Be a Myth' there was a WSJ article over the weekend that talked about this. I think given schools are waiving test requirements there is going to be a domino effect and employers may have their hand forced, otherwise they limit their hirable prospects. If GMAT/GRE is not waived, it seems likely only going to be for limited cases and may be reportable optional. ClearAdmit had a webinar with Bain and JP Morgan recently that would be a good listen as well. I guess it cannot hurt to at least explore alternative prospects at each, but a more 'Poet' role of Digital Consulting/Marketing would not require Scheller's more technical focus and Owen may be able to achieve as well. anon69453 Likes Earned: 27 The fellowship at GT did not come with a scolarship. Tuition deduction of 7k a semester because of the GRA position + 9k a year salary. (1)

anon10646 Likes Earned: 783 I would say if there is something about GT you like in particular it couldn't hurt asking them about additional funds per your Owen offer, but likely would still be a big gap. Per prior comments your spouse is in Nashville, you liked people at Owen, and the funding is much higher with similar post-MBA prospects, so Owen seems a better choice on paper. GRA could be a decent work experience, but may limit the time you have for MBA experience, clubs, recruiting etc which is a big component of enrolling. (1)

anon69453 Likes Earned: 27 I Just heard back from Notre Dame with a 50k/year fellowship. Is Owen still the better choice? I am trying to make my decision primarily based on my education and job prospects post MBA. (0)

anon10646 Likes Earned: 783 So Mendoza would be 100K over two years vs 92K at Owen? So only 8K more. Notre Dame tuition and cost of living maybe tad cheaper, so maybe 10-12K total difference over two years. You could maybe reach out to Mendoza Consulting club to see how they do in placement and where they place geographically, but at least by employment report Owen does better for consulting; couple more % placement and higher comp. If your spose is staying in Nashville, travel to see each other would cost some anyways and if you already deposited Owen you'd lose that too. Perhaps at least do some due diligence on ND, especially if you may want to place into Chicago post-MBA, but seems like Owen still makes most sense for you. (1)
