anon10646 Likes Earned: 783 Why ND, not IESE? The fellowship, but I prefer the collegiate environment, felt the program had elements which I was prioritizing, and strong network. IESE has more of a class I was seeking (>250, older, international) and I enjoy Spain, but did not see better finance employment prospects to justify other than limited London placements (UK Citizen). Also, nearly every interaction with admissions had off-putting elements, more focused on finding reasons to reject me, and I feel was a reluctant offer for N.American numbers. (1)

anon10646 Likes Earned: 783 Mini-rant: Having read/watched/listened to endless Q&As and some interaction with admissions, I feel adcoms are very divorced from the reality of process for the candidate side. It seems most have spent nearly all their professional careers in admissions (or as consultants) and hold a ‘as it’s always been done’ mentality. It’s inconceivable adcoms do not believe they need to improve process for applicants or communicate beyond admit or deny given the impact of decisions, even to people on hold in WLs for months. Bet you any program which improves current low bar of communication sees dividends in admits. (1)

anon10646 Likes Earned: 783 Future cycle advice: R1 or 2 preferred as at least this cycle it seemed between deferrals and uncertainty that schools filled by R2. Get GMAT done early – I was not able to officially sit until close to deadlines which did not give me room to retool before apps when I didn’t score as expected. Timing/burnout – Did apps after studying for CFA and GMAT nonstop a year+ on top of crazy work year, so applications at the end of a cluster of deadlines suffered. Give yourself time and submit early. Resonate – Every application I had success with (interview or admit) seemed to manage to connect well with that the school was looking for or held as values. (1)

In addition, thanks for sharing your advice to applicants on the benefits of applying early, not waiting to the last minute to complete the GMAT, and making sure that your applications really show how well you fit with/connect with your target schools.
