Straight white man will be 27 at matriculation, went to a small liberal arts school (NESCAC) & graduated in 2018 with majors in economics and political science & a minor in data analysis. In college I played a year of a varsity sport, but after reevaluating spent most of my free time tutoring courses in local prisons. Won a grant that allowed me to intern with the Government Accountability Office in D.C. in Summer 2017.
I have worked as an economic consultant for one of the niche econ consulting firms since June 2018, focusing mainly on intellectual property disputes in the tech/healthcare space. I was promoted in 2020 and again in 2021 so now I mainly draft models and report text for our expert witnesses, and manage junior staff as they audit/research/clean data.
I've lived with epilepsy since 2008 and have had multiple brain surgeries so I'm pretty interested/passionate about health care issues. I'm on the junior board of two non-profits, one related to pediatric epilepsy care and the other related to disability in the professional workplace.
Short term goal: I know I cannot advance much further in my current econ consulting role and want to pivot to something more hands-on in management consulting, specifically in the healthcare space given my personal experiences with epilepsy and the healthcare system & professional experiences with healthcare IP disputes.
Long term goal: I would love to run a medical device firm in a COO/CEO capacity, as someone with a medical implant myself, I feel like there needs to be people in decision-making capacities that have disabilities and can better relate to the consumers they're serving.
Took the GMAT 3 times -- latest & best score is 740 (Q44/V47), with prior attempts of 720 (Q47/V42) & 710 (Q48/V40) -- concerned that highest score has lowest Quant by far.
