Hello everyone.
I would like to get some reviews on my profile and would like to understand what are my chances of getting into the mentioned business schools. I will start with my demographics. I am a 28 years old Indian engineering graduate. I have been associated with the Indian space research organization (ISRO-government space agency of India) since my college life. I have done my intern at one of the ISRO centers and joined one of their centers. Currently, I have been working as an engineer at ISRO for 6 years and leading/supervising a team of 15 technicians. I am also leading a separate team of 7 technicians and engineers for advanced R&D. I have received one promotion during my time at ISRO. On the technical side I have developed new processes related to assembly as well, which are currently being used.
Apart from this, I am attracted to finance and to satisfy my curiosity, I took a few online courses related to finance on Coursera, and I have cleared CFA level 1 and currently pursuing CFA level 2. I have been actively trading and participating in Indian stock markets in derivatives. (Personal investment).
ECs: I developed my passion for astrophotography during my undergrad years. I have helped a few people in setting up their astrophotography rig and taught them know how of how to get started with astrophotography.
Post-MBA goals: my short-term post-MBA goal would be to work for management and IT consulting firms or to get into leadership development programs at technology firms. My long-term goal is to go for leadership roles at a tech firm or large-scale manufacturing firm.

Your work experience might be very interesting, but it will be important to show growth and impact, where you can. Outside ECs show your different interests, assume astrophotography is related to your space career. Would be more interesting if your long term goals were more related to your current industry, since the industry is relatively new and will likely grow significantly? GPA/GMAT combo is not outstanding, have you considered a retake of the GMAT? (1)

maven Likes Earned: 1 Thank you alex for your response. My GPA out of 10 is 7.75 and my rank in the class of 60 was in the range of 10-15. I am also planning to retake the GMAT. My current industry is very selective, especially for someone who is not U.S. or EU citizen and there are not lots of employers in this industry. But that would definitely be my first choice if I can get one. But the above is the main reason for me to pivot into different industries. What are your thoughts on the selection of my schools? (1)

alexbr4 Verified User. Likes Earned: 1676 School selection might well be fine, but if you retake the GMAT and increase the score, that helps. Maybe then, consider 1-2 M7? Are you able to do this, ahead of Round 1? I would stick to the space industry as your long term goal, resonates better with your experience, and it’s a very interesting growth industry, I’d think?
