The Yale School of Management brings together 347 talented and diverse individuals for their MBA Class of 2024. The new members began orientation in mid-August, followed by classes back on campus in New Haven.

When first introducing the new class, Bruce DelMonico, Assistant Dean for Admissions, said, “What brings these incredibly diverse members of the Yale SOM Class of 2024 together is their aspiration to embody the school’s mission of educating leaders for business and society.”
Languages and Diversity
Forty-eight percent of the Class of 2024 holds passports from a country other than the United States, with 48 different countries represented overall. Three-quarters of the class is bilingual, and more than 30 percent are multilingual.
Forty-three percent of the incoming Yale MBA class are women. Fifty-four percent are identified as U.S. students of color, which includes U.S. citizens and permanent residents who identify as American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, Other Pacific Islander, Asian American, Black/African American or Hispanic/Latinx. Historically underrepresented students of color, which include U.S. citizens and permanent residents who identify as American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, Other Pacific Islander, Black/African American or Hispanic/Latinx, make up 24 percent of the class. Twelve percent represent LGBTQ+.
Academic Backgrounds & Professional Experience
During their undergraduate years, the Yale SOM MBA Class of 2024 averaged a GPA of 3.65 (median, 3.69). Thirty-eight percent had pursued majors in STEM followed by 25 percent in business. Nineteen percent earned degrees in humanities/social sciences and another 18 percent in economics. Seventeen percent are first-generation college graduates, while 10% have earned a previous graduate degree.
When it came time to take the GMAT, the new class averaged a score 0f 723 (median, 725). For those who took the GRE, their average scores landed at 165 Quant and 164 Verbal.
Twenty percent of the MBA candidates were working in financial services before matriculating at Yale SOM. Consulting was the next most popular industry, as 19 percent came from it. Twelve percent brought work experience from the non-profit industry, and the same percentage hailed from tech. Another nine percent spent their pre-MBA years in government. This year’s class also boasts the program’s highest number of Consortium members, at 39.
