My post-MBA goal is StratOps in Big Tech. I will also recruit for strategy consulting. For context: I am a military veteran and have worked in consulting for a couple of years at a global firm. First gen/URM and applied through the Consortium. I prefer to go back to Chicago or New York post-MBA. Long-term - explore VC opportunities in tech.

anon10646 Likes Earned: 783 Are you happy in your current role and feel you'll still be progressing a lot during the MBA years? Is your role one which will allow time to take a decent course load and not feel burnt out? Do you believe staying in that role be more valuable than concentrating on only academics and doing things like case comps or other opportunities? PTMBAs often don't post their career stats since people aren't switchers, so while I'm sure you could recruit into MBB or StratOps from PT, I'd at least try to get a better idea of how many people recruit, where they usually are able to go, did they have any issues etc. Personal preferences, but ability to enjoy a FT program and Stern + Vet/Diversity, which will go a long way to getting MBB or StratOps, at full-ride would seem a great option. To answer the questions above, I like being in consulting, but I am not doing as much strategic work, and I feel my progression is slow. It would be better for me to leave and immerse myself in the full-time experience. I applied for the part-time route as I did not expect a full ride from schools, especially applying with a waiver. As for the full-time options, I initially had Ross as my number 1, but with the money at Darden/Stern, it's hard to pass them up. However, I am leaning towards Darden due to placement in consulting, cheaper cost of living, and unique academic experience. (1)
