I am a South African based in Southeast Asia with a background in technology and consulting.
I have an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from a top South African University. My abysmal academic record of 58% (~2.3) is offset slightly by showing an steady increase in GPA from 50% to 68% over the course of four years and a decent final year research project mark of 74%. On the other hand I did fail vector calculus 3 times.
I am a native English speaker with fluency in Afrikaans and a basic command of Italian, Zulu, and Tagalog.
I am a certified rescue diver, compete in multi-day kayak marathons, and while at university I competed in and would later be a senior member of the team that organised and hosted the world universities championship (~1000 competitors).
Over the course of three years, I have been promoted twice and now am the country manager the Philippines leading 160-person team and managing a $2.8M budget. I have closed deals with several large multinational companies and doubled the revenue in my business unit since being promoted.
I am eligible for Italian citizenship and I want to relocate to Europe and capitalise on this post-MBA. I think staying in a general management / business development / operations roles is probably my best option. I am fairly industry agnostic, but I have a particular interest in FMCG and have some experience having worked closely with several of the largest domestic and multinational FMCG firms in the Philippines. I am also not totally against returning to consulting, but do also have my reservations.
