High Verbal GMAT, low Quant. Assuming 680-700 may be the best I can do. White male, also applying for ROMBA Fellowship. Pre-MBA career in Software as a Medical Device, Surgical Robotics. Strong extracurriculars -- Peer Mentor with the Adult Congenital Heart Association (~1 hrs. volunteering a week) and member of the organization's Patient Advisory Board (additional 2hrs/week). High hopes but really worried about the low GMAT score.

alexbr4 Verified User. Likes Earned: 1676 If you’re worried about a low GMAT score, then also take MBA Math or similar program. You’ll need to show quant literacy at some level. Impact and growth at work will be very important. Strong ECs will help. Curious why you’ve also included IMD? Do you have a geographic preference, post MBA? (1)

ajdecam Likes Earned: 8 Post-MBA medium term is New England. Long term Mountain west (originally from Denver). I'm not seriously considering a move to Europe, but have looked at IMD a few times since I heard about it on the podcast. I'm a big skier, so the mention of IMD's proximity to the Alps on the podcast piqued my curiosity a bit. Pretty confident around impact and growth at work. I know we say that MBA admissions is holistic and the GMAT is not the only thing that matters, but curious to know if there's a lower limit test score, blow which a candidate may not even be considered? (1)

Likes Earned: 1676 The key with a holistic approach in admissions is that it all matters, and hence the weakest aspect of your profile (assume GMAT here) becomes the most important. Some aspects of your profile can help augment other aspects, but career and test scores tend to be less “supportive” in that way. There’s really no official lower limit, but 650 for the majority of programs you’re targeting might be it. But those gaining admissions with that score would be super strong in all other aspects, etc. Good reason for IMD, but key will be their ability to help you recruit to New England, and their alum network in the US, etc. (0)
