Get to know some NYU Stern MBA students beyond the class profile in this edition of our ongoing series, Real Humans: MBA Students.
The NYU Stern class profile shows a diverse cohort of 327 students. Women make up 47 percent of the new class and 40 percent of the class holds international citizenship. Forty-six percent of U.S. students identify as members of a U.S. minority group, with 22 percent who identify as underrepresented minorities. This diversity reflects Stern’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and globally-minded business education.
The class boasts an impressive average undergraduate GPA of 3.64, with the middle 80% of GPAs ranging from 3.43 to 3.93. The average GMAT score for the class is 733, with 80% of students scoring between 690 and 760. For those who took the GRE, the average score was 164 in both Verbal and Quantitative sections.
In terms of academic backgrounds, 32 percent of the class holds undergraduate degrees in business, while 23 percent majored in engineering, math, or science. Economics majors make up 18 percent of the class, followed by social sciences at 15 percent, and 12 percent with degrees in humanities, arts, or other fields. The average work experience for the Class of 2026 is 5 years. Financial services is the most represented industry among incoming students, with 22 percent having worked in the sector, followed by 19 percent from consulting, 10 percent from tech, and seven percent from military or government roles.
The vibrant and diverse cohort of students behind the class profile bring their own unique experiences, backgrounds, and aspirations. In this series, we hear from Anjali Nadeswaran, originally from Irvine, California, who decided to pursue her MBA to gain the skills necessary to work at an early-stage startup, leveraging her experience in consulting and tech. Then, PJ Price, with a background in political strategy and corporate consulting, shares his excitement about the opportunity to contribute to media and tech while exploring new avenues in New York City.
Uri Morduchowicz, a seasoned strategy consultant from Israel, sees Stern as a perfect fit to expand his knowledge of international business and operations while studying alongside his wife, who is pursuing an LLM at NYU. Additionally, Matt McKee, a former U.S. Army infantry officer, is transitioning from the military to the business world through Stern’s Fertitta Veterans MBA Program, ready to explore opportunities in tech and healthcare. Lastly, Tamika Turner, with an extensive background in communications and social impact, has chosen Stern to refine her marketing skills and bridge her experiences between the public and private sectors.
