Notes:

I'm a recent graduate (22M) from a Tier 1 engineering institute in India with a T15 deferred MBA admit, but I plan to apply to M7 schools again (I got 4 M7 interview invites, including S, but no admits) after 2/3 years, and I was wondering what I should do in the workspace to improve my profile.

I think the major thing that could've gotten me dinged is that I wrote about wanting to get into VC without having an IB experience. Currently, I work at an SME FinTech firm and am looking at IB roles, but I haven't been very successful. Any tips would be appreciated.

alexbr4 Verified User. Likes Earned: 1655 Maybe you could adjust your post MBA goals so that it’s IB in the short run, then on to VC? In the meantime, really showing impact and growth at work will be critical, as well as your activities outside of work. Any additional volunteer activities, hobbies and interests?

Finally, make sure you target the first rounds.

anon11628 Likes Earned: 16 I did actually write about IB then VC in most apps but had to cut down in the ones which had a low word limit. Also funnily enough, in the one that I got in, I'd written about directly going into VC post MBA. I was head of the mentorship program during my undergrad. No real hobbies (there's boardgames but idt that's useful for MBA apps). I was wondering what kind of Volunteer work/Extracuricullars I can work on in parallel with my work and if it's necessary.
