Hi! I wanted to give back to the community by sharing my NYU Stern interview report. I interviewed in late October 2024.
It’s true what they say: NYU heavily tailors the interview to the applicant, and the interviews are more free-form than other schools. I prepared heavily for NYU and still walked away feeling doubtful about how I did, though I was later admitted.
The interviewer was really nice and professional.
This was the overall flow:
* Warm-up question from my pick 6.
* Accomplishment you were proud of?
* Leadership style?
* Asked about the specifics of why I planned to pursue the internship that I said I would, and how the skills I would gain from that would help me in my job search. We spent a long time on this.
* My plan B for post-MBA, if plan A didn’t work out.
* Whether I’d consider going back to my current company and why/why not.
* Weaknesses specific to my application – for me specifically, they asked whether I thought I would struggle in quant classes. I had to explain why I felt confident that I would succeed.
* What clubs I’d like to join.
They did not ask why MBA, why Stern, or why NYC (probably because all three were obvious from my application).
