If you’re keen to hear more about business schools, podcasts are a good place to start. Whether you’re searching for industry information, gathering tips before launching your career, or looking for the inside scoop on life as an MBA student, there’s a podcast out there for everything. 

In this second part of our series on business school podcasts, we’ve rounded up seven more!

Berkeley Haas: Black@Haas

Berkley Haas runs a series of student-focused podcasts. Each of them platforms the “voices and stories of current students, alumni, and faculty” and operates under the tagline of “by Haasies, for Haasies.” 

Black@Haas is one such podcast. In this series, host Sean Li chats with the Black students, alumni, and faculty of Haas. Recent episodes include, for example, an interview with Laura Clayton McDonnell titled “The Importance of Having a Personal Philosophy” and exploring Clayton’s incredible career with the tech giants—or one that celebrates Black History Month with Lisa Morris, titled “Passionate To Serve Underserved Communities.”

The podcast has been running since 2019 and has released 35 episodes.

Dartmouth Tuck: Knowledge in Practice

Dartmouth Tuck’s Knowledge in Practice podcast is an extension of the longer-running Knowledge in Practice collection, the series of articles and videos that spotlights the fascinating research and analysis of Tuck’s faculty. 

The podcast continues the tradition, with each episode interviewing a faculty member to reveal both their findings and their inspiration. Recent episodes include “AI, Social Media, and the Misinformation Problem,” in which assistant professor James Siderius examines AI, social media, and the associated ethics, as well as his new elective AI-Driven Analytics and Society. Another is “Precarious Manhood and Flirting at Work,” in which assistant professor Sonya Mishra discusses the workplace implications of her research on gender. Both episodes are hosted by Kirk Kardashian.

Launched in August 2024, the podcast has seven episodes. The larger Knowledge in Practice series has been running since 2010.

Duke Fuqua: The Fuqua Show

Duke Fuqua’s The Fuqua Show presents the intriguing stories of the diverse Fuqua community. Students, alumni, partners, faculty, and staff are all spotlighted in this student-led exploration of “Team Fuqua.” 

Recent episodes include an interview with Dr. Ronnie Chatterji titled “Making a Difference: Teaching, Running for Office, and Leading in the White House,” which delves into the impressive academic and political accomplishments of Dr Chatterji, presenting to its listeners “rich stories, valuable insights, and practical advice.” Or, a couple of episodes before that, an interview with Veronica Valencia Victoria titled “Moving On Up: Physical Therapy to MBA,” an insightful and inspiring chat that covers career pivots, family influence, resilience in the shape of hardship, and the importance of impact.

The podcast has been running since 2022. There are 63 available episodes.

Michigan Ross: Business Beyond Usual 

Michigan Ross’s Business Beyond Usual podcast is tackling the big questions—from issues on campus to problems in the wider world. Its student hosts are diving deep into everything that current and prospective MBAs might need to know.

One such recent episode was the “Executive MBA Takeover,” in which guest hosts Arthur Bochner and Radhika Muthukrishnan discussed with three EMBA students their experiences in the Ross program, the journeys that brought them there, the extent to which they have applied their learnings to their workplaces, and their tips and tricks to balancing study with the rest of their careers and lives. Another episode, titled “Full Time MBA Council: Creating A Supportive Environment,” saw the hosts sit down with the FTMBA Council to discuss their role, their goals, and the pillars that drive them: cross-collaboration, DEI, and prioritizing well-being. 

Since its launch in 2019, the podcast has released 165 episodes. It is currently in its 9th season.

NYU Stern: Stern Chats

The podcast for untold stories: NYU Stern’s Stern Chats explores the lives and journeys of the business school’s students, alumni, administrators and faculty. The podcast, run by students, goes beyond what can be found on a resume, platforming the personal reflections of its guests. 

Recent episodes include “Consulting Insights from the Field,” in which hosts Bhaskar and Daulat examine today’s consulting industry with guests Bhushan Sethi, an Adjunct Professor at Stern, and Julia Lamm, a Stern MBA graduate from the Class of 2011. Together, they investigate trends, hiring, skills, and personal career paths. Another episode is “Recruitment Rundown,” in which Genevieve Kelley explains the importance of—and knack to—telling your own story in a compelling manner. Kelley presents practical advice to listeners that covers various industries, the use of AI, and more. 

The podcast has been running since 2017 and has released 188 episodes.

Virginia Darden: Good Disruption 

Virginia Darden’s Good Disruption examines the technologies and practices that are “challenging the status quo.” Hosted by UVA Darden Professors Mike Lenox and Yael Grushka-Cockayne, it is packed with lively discussions of today’s pressing issues. At the end of each episode, the hosts share their personal view on whether each topic is a good or a bad disruption—or, in some cases, not a disruption at all. 

Recent topics include “Electronic Voting” and “Social Media.” In the former, Lenox and Grushka-Cockayne were joined by UVA Associate Professor David Nemer to look at the issue from a perspective of culture and trust; in the latter, the hosts sat down with Travis Nixon—UVA Darden alum and Meta Machine Learning Engineer—to discuss social media’s impact on mental health, the possible use of AI, and the controversial nature of social media.  

The podcast has released 24 episodes since its launch in 2022.

Yale SOM: Career Conversations 

Yale SOM’s podcast Career Conversations is all about getting candid. In each episode, SOM students discuss career paths, industries, opportunities for MBAs, work life balance, and more—all with Yale SOM alumni who have been through it all themselves.

Recent episodes include a conversation with Logan Disch, strategy and analytics associate at Google, on the career path that led him there. Or, for example, a discussion with Jessica Gallegos, also employed at Google and working on Google Research’s Generative AI or Perception team, about her journey into the role. 

The business school podcast was launched in 2019 and has aired 70 episodes.
