Episode 18: Recommendations II: Who to Pick?

When it comes to “who” should be your recommenders, the obvious options include immediate supervisors and prior supervisors at work. With that said, it is also acceptable – and in some cases advantageous – to seek a recommender from places outside of the professional realm.

For many candidates, the immediate supervisor simply may not be an option. This lesson covers such scenarios and provides guidance for other potential choices noting the importance of the optional essay in conveying any constraints pertaining to the ultimate choice of recommender.
