I interviewed later in the afternoon and got to go to a class and lunch prior to interviewing. I really enjoyed my day on campus, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the team based interview. ENTREPRENEURSHIP@ Columbia Business School: CBS Reframes Its Entrepreneurship Curriculum
As part of a week-long celebration of entrepreneurship earlier this month, Columbia Business School (CBS) unveiled a new framework for its entrepreneurship curriculum—one that is designed to help students quickly and easily understand available coursework as it relates to their individual entrepreneurial interests. “We wanted to put in place a framework that helps students find the right classes to empower them based on whatever their goal might be,” says Vincent Ponzo, senior director of the Eugene Lang Center for Entrepreneurship. Recognizing that goals vary from student to student, the school has grouped its entrepreneurial coursework into four broad buckets titled Think, Start, Scale and Invest and created an intuitive digital tool that allows for easy filtering and class selection. Columbia Business School Celebrates Ally Week
Columbia Business School (CBS) last week celebrated the allies in its community—those who support and stand up for the rights of LGBT people—as part of its annual Ally Week. Taking place from November 14th through 18th, the week included a range of activities organized by Cluster Q, CBS’s LGBT Business Association. Events ranged from an “Ask a Q Anything” Supper Club—giving allies a chance to ask Cluster Q members questions about the coming-out process, politics and identities within the LGBT spectrum—to a “How to Be an Ally” workshop helping define ally-ship and highlight its importance. Real Humans of MBA Admissions: UC Berkeley Haas’s Morgan Bernstein
Morgan Bernstein is currently in her first year as executive director leading the full-time MBA admission team at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, having taken over last March for Stephanie Fujii, who held the role for four years before that. “I’m excited about growing my team, learning, figuring out what I know and what I don’t know,” she told us last week while taking a break from reading applications. “Stephanie left some big shoes to fill.” But Bernstein is by no means a stranger to the school or its admissions process. Indeed, she was part of the admissions team for five years before stepping into her current role, and she knows things from the other side as well.
