HEC Paris’ Efforts for Zero-Waste Campus

Though already considered France’s most environmentally-friendly business school, HEC Paris continues to raise the bar with ongoing recycling & waste reduction initiatives. The business school, just 17km from the center of Paris, kick started plans to have a zero-waste campus in mid-2020. One goal is to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill. Another goal is recycling as much of its food, plastics, bottles, boxes, cigarette butts and paper as possible. Healthcare at Kellogg Bolstered by Gift for Biopharma

Northwestern Kellogg alumnus, Kent Hawryluk ’07, gifted $3 million to the business school, establishing the Hawryluk Biopharmaceutical Scholars Endowed Fund. The fund builds upon the existing Program on Healthcare at Kellogg (HCAK). The scholars will be Full-Time MBA students with a demonstrated interest in healthcare. They will receive scholarships and benefit from dedicated co-curricular programming. Additionally, the scholars will engage alumni and other experts in the healthcare management field, particularly in biopharmaceuticals, through treks to industry hubs, presentations from field leaders and mentorship. The interview was application-based, very conversational, and lasted for about 1.5 hours. It was conducted virtually via Zoom by an alumnus based in my country. 2 yrs MBB, early promotion to Jr. Manager; on a one-year secondment at an urban mobility startup focused on autonomous vehicle technology in San Francisco. A lot of my work in MBB and in undegrad focused on sustainability and transportation, and this one-year externship allows me to explore strategic roles in a fast-paced, urban-focused startup that exercises both my experience in strategy and my passion for transportation.
Post-MBA, I will return to MBB as a sponsored consultant for ~2 years, leave to be a COO of an urban mobility startup similar to the one I'm working at now. Long-term, I hope to either break into government or urban mobility tech space to reshape how cities think about sustainable transportation (e.g., an investing role for more public transit, or AV/EV innovation).

My #1 is GSB for its innovative culture and proximity to San Francisco's tech ecosystem; MIT Sloan has a great department in urban planning that I'd love to take cross-dept. classes in. HBS, Wharton, and CBS are also strong in real estate/entrepeneurship, both of which I'm also considering.
