$5 Million Gift to Michigan Ross Sets Up New True Grit Scholarship Fund

The University of Michigan Stephen M. Ross School of Business announced a new scholarship fund thanks to the generosity of an anonymous Ross BBA alumnus. The alum’s $5 million gift establishes the True Grit Scholarship Fund. The new fund will award partial and full-ride scholarships to current and incoming Full-Time MBA and BBA students. Real Humans of Washington University Olin’s MBA Class of 2022

At Washington University in St. Louis, the Olin Business School welcomes a small yet diverse MBA class each year. The Olin MBA Class of 2022 is comprised of 90 students, who average the age of 27. Women comprise 46 percent of the new group and international students make up 36 percent of it. Twenty-eight percent identify as underrepresented minorities. 2 yrs MBB, early promotion to Jr. Manager; on a one-year secondment at an urban mobility startup focused on autonomous vehicle technology in San Francisco. A lot of my work in MBB and in undegrad focused on sustainability and transportation, and this one-year externship allows me to explore strategic roles in a fast-paced, urban-focused startup that exercises both my experience in strategy and my passion for transportation.
Post-MBA, I will return to MBB as a sponsored consultant for ~2 years, leave to be a COO of an urban mobility startup similar to the one I'm working at now. Long-term, I hope to either break into government or urban mobility tech space to reshape how cities think about sustainable transportation (e.g., an investing role for more public transit, or AV/EV innovation).

My #1 is GSB for its innovative culture and proximity to San Francisco's tech ecosystem; MIT Sloan has a great department in urban planning that I'd love to take cross-dept. classes in. HBS, Wharton, and CBS are also strong in real estate/entrepeneurship, both of which I'm also considering.
