Hi everyone, thanks for taking the time to review my post!
About me: 25F Taiwanese-Canadian (born in Taiwan but grew up in Canada)
School: I studied Political Science at a T3 Canadian university. I recognize that my GPA and GMAT score is under the average for most of the schools I am targeting and that my major is not quant focused, therefore I will be retaking the GMAT to aim for a 750.
Work Ex: I currently lead a team of 14 for two programs. One program is focused on supporting Canadian employers through business downturn whereas the other program is targeted around temporary foreign workers. I received my first opportunity to lead a team of nine within one year of starting my initial position. I was also selected as one of fifty candidates within my regional department to participate in a one-year aspiring leadership program (there are approx. 5800 employees in my regional department).
Goals: Due to my experience liaising and supporting hundreds of employers through the COVID-19 pandemic, my short term goal is to leverage the business knowledge I gain through the MBA to go into management consulting and work with employers to develop strategies/plans to withstand any future business downturns. Long term goal is to open a lower cost consulting firm for minority-owned businesses.
EC: In undergrad, I was a Residence Advisor, captain of my women's ultimate frisbee team, and chair of my university's fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society. I also went on a one year study abroad program in France where I took 90% of my courses in French. At present, I captain my current ultimate team and will be running a weekly outdoor fitness bootcamp in the summer. I also play the piano and violin.
Would the schools I am hoping to target be a reach for me?
