Hi ClearAdmit team! Longtime listener to the pod and first time poster here on the wires – sincere thanks for putting together so many helpful resources and cultivating this community. My profile: Latino male, 3.60 GPA from top liberal arts school, environmental science and economics major. Also recently completed a 6-month professional certificate program in data science to round out technical skills. Strong ECs and community engagement both during and post undergrad. Avid outdoorsman and sports enthusiast. Took the GMAT cold and scored a 680 (Q39, V44) – confident I can boost Q score substantially with 1-2 months of focused prep. Ultimately shooting for 720+.
5 years of experience working for boutique sustainability-focused consulting firms at the intersection of sustainable development, climate finance, conservation/nature-based solutions (e.g., working with multilateral development banks, governments, and financial institutions in low/middle-income countries to finance climate change mitigation and adaptation activities). Lots of interesting experience as a consultant working on sustainability in emerging markets, though not for big brand-name firms. Deeply passionate about climate/sustainability, hoping to use the MBA to shore up skills related to finance, business strategy, etc. and use those to help US orgs design and implement sustainability strategies (hoping to show continuation from academic background through professional experience). Consulting seems like most logical short-term path post-MBA – no strong location preference. Currently thinking of applying R1 to Tuck and Haas (assuming I can improve test score in time), then the rest in R2. Any feedback on school selection, application strategy or areas of profile to emphasize would be most welcome!
