I have a social sciences degree, took a sabbatic after graduating during which I volunteer at a national park (full time for 4 months, without internet or cell connection). After that I worked in innovation as a consultant and then as an analyst at a bank (member of the biggest banking corporation in my country). I'm currently a product manager for the Ministry of Education of my country and work in high profile projects (One of which was implemented as part of the COVID relief efforts prioritized by the national government and helped over 100 000 people during the month it was used).
I have met and chatted with two people that went to the same undergrad institution I did (Nº1 in the country) and have a similar major that were admitted to Yale SOM. Went there to visit, had a meeting with an admissions officer whom I met at a multi school event at my city and feel like I have very good chances there. The same with IESE, I have met with the current head of admissions several times, she seemed to really like my work and academic history (a latina with a social sciences degree is very uncommon in MBA applications) and every alumnus I have met have been super nice.
I really like both Yale and IESE and feel like they may be a great fit for me but I know that I need to apply to at least 3 schools.
I have also visited Stanford, Wharton and Harvard and liked them all. But I also know those schools are extremely selective and I don't know if I have a strong enough profile.
I haven't taken the GRE yet but I'm planning to take it in the next couple of weeks and hope to get around 164Q-164V (328 total which is close to the average at my target schools).
I speak 4 languages (including an indigenous language) and my post-mba goals (to transition into tech) align well with my work experience, especially my current role as a product manager in tech projects.
Would love your feedback and advice!
