I am a first-generation college Latina student who had a difficult time navigating university after transferring from a community college which led to starting off with a low GPA. After being accepted into Teach for America I moved to Springfield, MA from CA to teach 6th graders math. I graduated with my M.Ed in curriculum and teaching with a focus on math with a 3.7 GPA. I am currently preparing for the GMAT working hard to break 700's to hopefully offset my low undergrad GPA.
Volunteer/EC- Volunteered with Latinos for education to uplift the voice of the Latino community in Policy.
Collaborative Parent Leadership Action Network- Collaborated to create a plan by working alongside the Mass department of education to bring educators, parents, and students in the same room to come up with best practices to increase parent engagement.
City Councilor At-large- Volunteer on the campaign of a Latina candidate running for city council making sure to strategically target communities that are oftentimes ignored.
I feel that an MBA would help me develop skills to do more for my community and help me reach my goal of consulting with a concentration in education reform.
