I studied music and arts management in college. While in college, 16-25 hours/week devoted to practicing + performing and was working part-time, so time management was something I learned early on. Coursework includes economics, entrepreneurship, policy + arts management. I've worked as a private music teacher on the side in addition to running the operations, social media, and non-profit outreach for a start-up music company. Through my work, our client base has doubled in size and this Fall we will have raised $5k for a local nonprofit (this may not seem like a lot, but for us it is!) My teaching has taken me abroad to Italy (for two summers) where I performed and taught local musicians. I also have experience working as a music business intern at a large Entertainment venue in my city and a smaller company in NYC. Earning my MBA may seem like it's coming a little bit out of left field, but my work at this startup and my past studies in arts management/entrepreneurship have spurred my interest and has helped me clarify my goals. Short-term goal: pursue an MBA internship with a company such as Warner Bros. Music. Long-term goal: Executive-level position at large entertainment company focusing on social impact and outreach. In terms of b-school's, I am interested in programs strong in entertainment or social impact, in addition to global opportunities. Any advice on my current school list and background would be great.
