White female, 3.83 from a T5 undergrad in a social science major. Coming from a very unusual but sexy sounding SI/nonprofit background in a trendy area that on its own does not have a clear path to an MBA. Most people with my background apply to law school. I'm looking to do a stint in consulting before returning to SI at a more senior level (particularly working on closing the racial/gender wealth gap - this is related to my current line of work). Why MBA: the private sector plays a crucial role in reducing poverty, but government and nonprofits often don't know how the sector works/how to effectively collaborate with it. Need to spend time in consulting to gain experience across industries to be more impactful in SI down the road.
Strong (but not super dazzling) ECs from college and beyond that support the narrative above - they are mostly volunteer-based.
Weaknesses - undergrad transcript light on quant classes, unusual work history. Recommenders are not used to writing MBA recs, so am not sure how that will play out.
Is my list too top-heavy? I am in the midwest and would like to stay here long-term (why I'm applying to Booth, Kellogg and Ross) and am applying to SOM because they are friendly to SI applicants. GSB/HBS as reaches.
