I'm curious whether I would stand a chance at top league schools. I did my undergrad in Hungary in finance and accounting, and I have a 1-year Msc in Management from Cass (Bayes) Business School. I worked 2 years at Roland Berger, am a finance manager now at a partly family owned small manufacturing company. I took part in the turnaround and acceleration phase too. On the side, I have some other small entrepreneurial projects.
After MBA, I want to work in restructuring consulting or PE/Venture Capital with larger, more complex projects.

I worry the GPA might be on the lighter side. Very good GMAT helps. Coming from Hungary can help, too. Showing impact and growth at work is very important. Outside of work activity can help, too. Where (geographically) do you want to be, post MBA? (1)

grichmond Verified User. Likes Earned: 1237 Coming from Hungary is a major plus in terms of being underrepresented in the applicant pool. I also like the fact that you have had some experience with a known quantity in Roland Berger before jumping into a presumably lesser known firm. Progression at work sounds strong too. My hope is that: a) you attended a good university in Hungary and that your 3.1 was earned in a rigorous curriculum with plenty of quantitative subjects (and perhaps a decent class rank), b) that your performance at Cass/Bayes was strong too. One word of caution; some admissions readers may wonder why you need an MBA after having already earned an MSc in management. At the end of the day, I think you are absolutely right to target US top-10 and EU top-5. Best of luck! (1)

ganmat Likes Earned: 1 Thanks very much for the feedback! I am planning to continue my career in the US, thanks for the hint about the restructuring consulting. Exactly one of my cocerns was if an Msc is actually an advantage or disadvatage. But I am hoping that the geographical pivot to US might explain it. As for the low undergrad gpa, I did some CSR activity during uni to balance it, we'll see. Thank you again! (1)
