Notes:

Plan on taking the GMAT Focus around the first of the year. 10 years of military experience working in missile defense - left the military as an E6. Started studying at a community college then transferred into Stanford University - studying mechanical engineering. Two years left to finish undergrad, then hopefully right into an MBA.

alexbr4 Verified User. Likes Earned: 1674 Make sure to reach out to the veterans’ clubs of the programs you’re targeting, as well as service to school. As an enlisted candidate, you’ll need to show your impact and growth, etc.

When will you be applying for the MBA? I assume you’ll be an older candidate? Be good to know more about your post MBA goals? Assume consulting is the short term goal?

kk26 Likes Earned: 2 Will do! Thank you for the response and thank y’all for putting together the podcast - it’s been really helpful! I don’t know if this helps, but I’m also a first-gen college student. Round 1 Fall ‘25 for Fall ‘26 admit. Older candidate for sure. Right now consulting is the main focus - at least 2-3 years learning as much as I can and making an impact. I’ll reassess at that point… if I’m enjoying the work my plan is to stay around for another 2-3. If not, I’ll look for an exit strategy in the automotive or aerospace sector as a PM. I’m open to a few other avenues also, but this is the plan. I really enjoy helping people and solving problems, so consulting seems like a natural fit. (1)

Happy to provide more background to up clear up the picture if needed - leadership roles, resume, personal story, etc. (1)

Then your decision to complete your undergrad, switch to Stanford and so forth. Your pathway is quite unorthodox, but that doesn’t exclude you, for sure. (1)
