I found out from talking to a current student that the second-year students go through a rigorous application and interview process themselves to become admissions ambassadors. Duke / Fuqua Interview Report: Early Decision / Second-year Student/ On-Campus

When you arrive on the admissions floor, you sit in groups on the couches with the other people interviewing and a first year student who you can ask questions to.
