London Business School Announces New Full-Time MBA Scholarships Basant Kumar Birla, eponym of the BK Birla Scholars Program Kumar Mangalam Birla, Aditya Birla Group chairman and London Business School alumnus, has gifted his alma mater with a £15 million endowment, the largest endowed scholarship gift to a European business school. The program recognizes high-achieving MBAs who demonstrate leadership potential and honors the legacy of celebrated industrialist, philanthropist, and pioneer Basant Kumar (BK) Birla (1921–2019), who viewed higher education as a fundamental right for everyone. The eponymous BK Birla Scholars Program will fund 10 full scholarships for five full-time MBA students from India and five from the rest of the world. To be eligible, students must rank in the top five percent of the class, beginning with the cohort starting in the Fall of 2019. “It is an incredible gift to be able to honor B.K. Birla’s memory with this prestigious scholars program,” said François Ortalo-Magné, Dean of LBS. Read more

London Business School Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / Alumnus / Off-campus (New Delhi)

For LBS, The interview was with an alumnus, with about 12 years of post-MBA experience. The interview began smoothly, despite some nervousness; on account of it being by my first ever interview experience. The interviewer asked with a traditional “tell me more about yourself”. While it was a non-blind interview and he had my application documents and essay printed with him, it did not really look like he had gone through it in detail. What really helped was that while I ensured I answered to the point, I tried to leave some open ends for him to pick up on. Read more

Fridays from the Frontline: This Time for Africa: LBS Students in Johannesburg

The week-long Global Business Experience (GBE) is one of London Business School’s major selling points, offering MBA students an opportunity to immerse themselves in the business cultures of Israel, India, China, Peru, Myanmar, South Africa, or Brazil. According to LBS, GBEs consist of “faculty briefings, guest speakers, site visits, workshops, panels, company visits and opportunities to engage with local LBS alumni in the region.” The South African GBE is centered around the role that entrepreneurial micro-businesses play in economic growth. LBS students “work with a micro-entrepreneur on a challenge facing their business in an important emerging market. Develop an understanding of the process of growth and transformation, as well as the constraints and opportunities that surround them.” Current MBA student Amy Dobbin '19 took to the LBS blog to unpack her recent GBE in Johannesburg. 2018 Financial Times Ranking of Top European Business Schools

The 2018 Financial Times ranking of top European business schools was just released. After an in-depth review of schools across Europe, FT completed its list of the 95 schools including 25 in France and 22 in the UK, seven in Germany, and a handful in all other countries. When looking at this ranking, it’s important to pay attention to the methodology and what it indicates.
