Chicago Booth, Northwestern Kellogg Top Economist 2018 Rankings

The newest Economist best MBA rankings for full-time programs is officially out, with two Chicago schools topping the list. The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management sit at number one and two for 2018. This new ranking is only a modest shift from 2017, when the schools were also first and second, albeit in reverse order. Wharton Publishes 2018 MBA Employment Report, Announces $25M Gift

Wharton Receives $50M Alumni Gift, Largest Single Gift in School’s History

The University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School this week announced its largest-ever single gift, from alumnus Marc J. Rowan (W’84 & WG’85) and his wife Carolyn. The generous $50 million gift will help attract new world-class faculty and support the Penn Wharton Budget Model (PWBM), a groundbreaking program on economic policy analysis. Has the MBA Lost Its Luster? GMAC Application Trends Survey Sheds Some Light

Declining application volume at U.S. business schools made the headlines when the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) released the findings of its annual application trends survey earlier this week (10/1). “Applications Down at 70 Percent of U.S. MBA Programs—Including Harvard,” broadcast one news outlet. And it’s true. The GMAC data reveal that just 32 percent of U.S. programs reported growth as compared to last year. Overall, U.S. business schools experienced a nearly 7 percent decline, with domestic applications down 1.8 percent and international volume off by 10.5 percent. Wharton Rolls Out Welcome Mat for MBA Class of 2020

With students in Wharton’s MBA Class of 2020 now settled in on campus, Wharton Deputy Vice Dean Maryellen Reilly took to the school’s MBA Admissions Blog to welcome the new class and share details about its composition. Renowned Wharton Economist, Berkeley Alumna Ann Harrison Named New Haas Dean

Ann Harrison named new Haas dean Ann Harrison, a renowned economist and member of the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, has been named the next dean of the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, the California school announced today. Healthcare Tech Teams Dominate 2018 Wharton Startup Challenge

Just a few weeks ago, the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School held its 2018 Startup Challenge, which awarded cash prizes to outstanding student entrepreneurs whose startups all have the potential to become “the next big thing.” Billed as the school’s most significant entrepreneurship event of the year, the Wharton Startup Challenge saw 27 semifinalist teams compete for $135,000 in cash prizes.
