This Oxford Saïd 1+1 MBA Student Just Won a $156K Pershing Square Scholarship
Worth more than $156,000 USD, the Pershing Square Scholarship at the University of Oxford Saïd Business School is one of the most prestigious and largest awards available at the university. Georgetown McDonough Offers New FinTech Elective
Starting in spring 2018, Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business will offer a new elective course focused on fintech and blockchain. Specifically, FINC 258 will go into depth about how these technologies are disrupting financial systems and impacting business. The course has been designed to help students develop an understanding of the evolution and history of fintech and blockchain technology while also introducing other elements of financial technology. Inside the First MBA/MSDS Cohort at UVA Darden
This summer, the UVA Darden School of Business welcomed the inaugural cohort of its MBA/Master of Data Science (MSDS) dual-degree program. The cohort, consisting of seven students, assembled before most other cohorts to begin taking courses in programming, systems, and statistical computing over the summer session. The courses were offered at the UVA Data Science Institute and considered part of the first term of the MSDS degree. INSEAD Tops Bloomberg Businessweek Ranking of International MBA Programs
INSEAD pushed aside London Business School (LBS) to take the top spot in Bloomberg Businessweek’s annual ranking of MBA programs outside the United States, published yesterday. €24 Million Investment Will Expand IESE Madrid Campus
Barcelona-based IESE Business School will invest €24 million in a new campus building in Madrid as part of an overall expansion, its dean announced recently. The new building, which will be focused on entrepreneurship, research, and international programs, will expand research and teaching opportunities in Madrid by 50 percent. Babson College & F.W. Olin Graduate School Ranked Highly for Entrepreneurship
For the last few decades, Babson College has been considered a leader in entrepreneurial education, having ranked highly in the U.S. News & World Report for 24 years. And over the last decade, graduates have started more than 1,104 companies and raised more than $103 million in funding. This year was no different. For the sixth year in a row, the Princeton Review and Entrepreneur Magazine ranked Babson College #1 on their list of Top 25 Best Undergrad Programs for Entrepreneurs, and the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business wasn’t far behind. Olin secured the #4 spot nationally for its graduate programs for entrepreneurs, ranking above institutions such as Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management and UVA's Darden School of Business. Southern California Wild Fires Cause UCLA Anderson Campus Closure
As wildfires rage in Southern California, UCLA Anderson School of Management was forced to cancel classes today. The Skirball Fire, named for the Skirball Cultural Center near where the fire is believed to have originated, broke out early Wednesday morning. It also caused the closure of the famed Getty Center and Museum. The fire is just one of four blazes currently burning in areas around Los Angeles as powerful Santa Ana winds combine dangerously with extremely dry conditions. Top Tuck 2017 Employment Stat Takeaways: Salaries Up, Tech Growing, West Beckons
Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business today became the latest leading business school to share details from its Class of 2017 MBA Employment Report, revealing an all-time high average first-year base salary and signing bonus of $158,194. To get there, the mean base salary climbed to $127,986 from last year’s $123,934, and the mean signing bonus increased 4 percent to $30,208. The median salary and signing bonus, meanwhile, remained constant year over year, at $125,000 and $25,000 respectively. Duke Launches New Incubation Fund for Early-Stage Ideas
As part of an initiative to support early-stage entrepreneurship ideas, the Duke Innovation & Entrepreneurship Initiative announced the creation of the Duke Incubation Fund. The new fund will invest more than $500,000 each year across 10 to 20 early-stage projects. Duke faculty, graduate students, post-docs, and medical residents will be eligible for the awards as long as their idea utilizes Duke intellectual property or leads to Duke intellectual property.
