UNC / Kenan-Flagler MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / Adcom / Telephone Interview
I interviewed with a member of the Adcom, Mr John Hughes, on December 5, 2011 over telephone. He had a copy of my resume with himself and started the interview in an unexpected manner by trying to throw me off my feet. I had worked with two organizations before joining my family business in 2010 but most questions revolved around my first two jobs. A) Tell me about the town your hometown and schooling. B) Why did you choose your undergrad college? C) Why did you choose to do an undergrad in Economics? D) Why did you pursue a Masters

UNC / Kenan-Flagler MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / Adcom / On-campus
The interview was a blind interview, meaning my interviewer had not reviewed my application. He only had a copy of my resume, and the interview revolved around my resume. We spent a few minutes with chitchat, and he described his background and what he was aiming to get out of the interview. It was very casual and conversational, and the interview lasted about 45 min. Everybody at KFBS was extremely friendly, and I was quite impressed. The interviewer went right off my resume and made notes on the resume itself. Questions included: Why did you pick your college? What was

Chicago Booth MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / On-Campus / AdCom
My R2 interview was conducted at Booth on February 24th. There were a number of first year students and Dean’s Student Admissions Committee representatives in the waiting room to greet visitors. Everyone was welcoming and helpful. A kind and engaging member of the admissions staff conducted my interview. She shared my non-profit background and was supportive and interested throughout the half-hour. The interview was comfortable and conversational. My interviewer let me know that she would be taking notes during the meeting and would give me a heads up when we got close to 30 minutes. Give me an overview of

Tepper MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / On-campus / Adcom
My interview was very conversational and the adcom who conducted my interview made me feel welcome and comfortable. Before the interview, there was a class and campus tour I was able to participate in. The students were extremely friendly (something CMU takes pride in because of the close knit community). I recommend doing some activities beforehand because it will help you during the interview. Questions I was asked: Tell me about yourself What do you know about Tepper and how do you see yourself fitting in? Why do you want an MBA What is your leadership style What do you

Duke / Fuqua MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / On Campus / Second-year Student
I interviewed recently at Fuqua (round 2 applicant, on campus interview). The interview was with a second-year student and was very friendly and relaxed. The interview lasted for ~1 hour (technically it was supposed to be 30 minutes with 15 reserved for my questions at the end). Below are the questions I can recall: Walk me through your resume What inspired your interest in your short-term goal Why MBA (weave in why Duke here) Tell me about a time when you worked on a team Tell me about a leadership experience How do you plan to be involved in the

Duke / Fuqua MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / Off-Campus / Alum
I had my Fuqua interview (off-campus) with an alumnus the morning of February 26th. It was very conversational. He hadn’t read my resume before the interview. Here are the questions I remember (He didn’t read from a script, and didn’t take notes) Tell me about yourself Why MBA Why Fuqua compared to other top schools How do you deal with a conflict in a team How do you deal with a team member who doesn’t communicate with others How do you deal with a team member who doesn’t pull his weight Tell me about an ethical dilemma you’ve faced Tell

Duke / Fuqua MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / Off Campus / Alum
I interviewed with an alumn from Fuqua (Duke) in London on Sunday, February 19, 2012. My interviewer chose the lobby of Landmark hotel in Central London as the venue. It was a very fine hotel with a comfortable and secluded seating area in the lobby. Why am I here in London? – I am not a British What’s my current role? Have you done modeling in your current role? (I am a general manager). My interviewer probed me and when she couldn’t obtain a satisfactory answer, she asked me that how comfortable am I with Maths? One example where a

Duke / Fuqua MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / On Campus / Second-year Student
My interview was on February 25th after a “Fuqua Friday” event on campus the prior night. It was a great opportunity to mingle with Fuquans and other prospectives. Interviewees who attended the event seemed more at ease the next morning than others who showed up just for their interview. It helped me appreciate the laid back atmosphere which is a huge selling point for Fuqua that the students try very hard to maintain. The on-campus interview is with a trained second year student. Interviewers are assigned at random and have only your resume. Dress is business casual although about 30-40

Columbia MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Regular Decision / Off-Campus (Merit Fellowship Interview)
I just completed my interview a few hours ago. Submitted my application on 1/3/12 and was invited to interview on 2/21/12. I would definitely recommend that you prepare for all questions on this site to be fully prepared! My interviewer was really cool and the interview was really informal, so my advice is to prepare like it’s a formal interview but don’t expect one. I still recommend dressing in business attire (I wore a suit and tie on a Sunday) and to choose your interviewer carefully. And contact your interviewers early and schedule as early as I can. They get

Kellogg MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / 2nd Year Student / On-campus
I was asked pretty standard questions: Walk me through your resume. Why do you want an MBA? Why Kellogg? What clubs would you be a part of and why? What do you want to do after Kellogg? Overall it was a very comfortable interview. I was happy I had a chance to speak with a student this time and was able to ask more student focused questions. Get there early, get a feel for the campus and sit in a class or two. The culture there is fantastic and everyone is very nice. Good luck!

Ross MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / Off Campus / Alum
I interviewed in NYC with a 2009 Alum. She was very familiar with Teach for America which helped because in previous interviews I had this issue. It was very conversational, we met at a starbucks, she took a few notes. Why Mba? Long-term career goals? Why Ross? How do you see yourself contributing to Ross with your nontraditional background? Any questions for me? We talked a lot about my experiences in TFA and in the classroom…dealing with parents, my passing rates etc. She was very sincere about wanting to thoroughly understand my career goals (which was legitimate considering they are

Duke / Fuqua MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 1 / On Campus / Second-year Student
I interviewed on September 23, 2011 as part of the open interview period for R1 applicants. I arrived in the Raleigh-Durham area the day before, so I woke up bright and early on the 23rd to get to the school in plenty of time. I wanted to knock my interview out of the way early, so I scheduled a 10 am slot. From the moment I arrived at Fuqua, the admissions office was buzzing with current students, admissions officers and prospectives there to visit. The current students sat and chatted with me for as long as I wanted and were

Berkeley / Haas MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / Off Campus / Alum (Consortium Applicant)
I live in LA and given my hectic work schedule, I could not really afford to go to Berkeley, so I arrange for a local interview. I contacted my interviewer and we agreed to meet over lunch at a restaurant in Hollywood near his office. The interviewer was a recent alum (Class of 2011). The interviewer was very friendly and welcoming. I brought copies of my resume but he already had a copy with him. The interview was very casual and he was probably younger than I was. Overall, it was very conversational and we kept on being interrupted by

Berkeley / Haas MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / Off Campus / Alum
I interviewed off-campus in January. The interview was in a conference room at the alum’s office; we had set-up the meeting after exchanging emails. The interviewer was very friendly and welcoming. To start the interviewer asked me for my resume and we dove right into the questions: Tell me about yourself What do you do? Why MBA? Why Haas? What do you want to do after your MBA? How will you contribute to the program? After covering the questions, we spent about 10-15 minutes covering questions I had. The school’s principle of “Confidence without attitude” was definitely palpable. Fingers crossed!

UT Austin / McCombs MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / On Campus / Second-year Student
I applied in Rd 2; received the interview invite in mid-december and did the on-campus interview in mid-january. I had made a visit to the school before so I elected not to append any classes or tours with my interview. The atmosphere was relaxed: I informed the office that I was there about 15 minutes early and spent some time looking over notes in the reception area. The interview was done by a second year student who had a copy of my resume but had not seen the rest of my application. Questions I remember: Walk me through your resume

UT Austin / McCombs MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 3 / Off Campus / Alum
I received an invitation to interview on February 7th, roughly two weeks after having submitted my application. I was given the choice to interview with a second year student or an alumni. For convenience, I chose to interview with an alumni who lives near to me. The university has a great system for contacting and coordinating with alumni to set up an interview; I was able to contact someone quickly and had an interview scheduled within one week. The interview itself was very conversational, it took place over lunch and the interviewer was gracious and accommodating. I was told by

Ross MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / Off Campus / Alum
I had my interview yesterday with a Ross alum in Boston. It was held on 2/20/12 as part of the R2 application process. The interview lasted roughly 45 minutes and was very regimented. He asked very little follow up questions and took lots of notes. The questions I was asked (and can remember) were as follows: Walk me through your resume Why an MBA? Why Ross? Since you studied Business for your Undergrad, what do you feel you can learn from a Master’s? How would you go about prioritizing all of the opportunities at Ross? (after I talked about all

I interviewed at Ross on campus during the Super Interview Weekend for Women (Round 2; Feb 4, 2012). Had an interview off-campus with an alumnus of the program. The alumnus was very friendly and easy to talk to – I felt good after the interview and he left me with a great impression of the program. Overall, I’d be familiar with the culture at Haas and their defining principles. Good luck interviewing with Haas! Started with small talk. Walk me through your resume Why Haas? Let’s talk about the four defining principles. Tell me about a time where you had to convince a team of your opinion. What would you change about your company if you were CEO?
