Chicago Booth Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / Second-Year Student / Skype
The interviewer was a second-year student who did not belong to my target industry. She seemed welcoming and friendly, and made the interview conversational. It lasted about 45 mins in total. It started with her congratulating me on getting to this step and introducing themselves. Questions asked: Walk me through your resume. Why MBA? Why now? ST/LT goals? Tell me about a time you led a team and what your experience was? Tell me about a time you tried to incorporate an external source of inspiration into an actual team project? What 3 words

Chicago Booth Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / Alum / Off-Campus
Pretty informal interview, was 30 minutes long including my questions, was asked the following: -Tell me about yourself. -Why MBA? Why now? -Why Booth? And what specific things are offered for your concentration? -Short-term and Long-term goals? How will you reach them? -How do you plan to recruit for your targeted industry post-MBA? -Any questions for me? I had prepared for behavioral questions, but wasn’t asked any which was surprising. Good luck to everyone!

Chicago Booth Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / Second-Year Student / Virtual
The overall interview was quite conversational. The interviewer ensured on keeping it quite casual throughout. The questions asked were very similar to standard ones; however, in terms of categories, the first was related to your background and purpose, the second was pertaining to behavioral questions and examples, and the third was pertaining to some questions that the candidate has pertaining to Booth and more about Booth. List of questions: Walk me through your resume. Clarity on job switches. Why MBA and Why Now? Tell me about a time when you had to accommodate a divergent opinion from a team or

HBS Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / Adcom / Zoom
I was interviewed by an Adcom member at HBS. The Adcom member was very warm and welcoming and started off by warning me about some internet connectivity issues they were having. The interview went mostly smoothly with a few spikes in the internet so we had to turn off the video feed for a minute towards the end. The questions were very specific to my application, but here are some questions from the interview: 1. Explain what your company does and the technology (I work at a life science start up). 2. Follow up on the technology. 3.

Chicago Booth Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / Alumnus / Zoom
The interview was with an alumnus, but he was from a different industry than I am. It was an hour long conversation. And honestly one of the most conversational interviews. It started off with him introducing himself, his career trajectory before and after Booth. Then he asked me: 1. About myself (here we connected on our personal stories) 2. My goals (long term & short term) 3. Why MBA? Why now? 4. Ideal team? What role would I see myself playing? (He mentioned Booth’s culture around teams) 5. My leadership experiences 6. A time I

HBS Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / Adcom / Zoom
The interview was conversational, with a member of the admissions committee who had read my entire application and was eager to know about the motivations behind my life’s transitions (primarily professional) and about my industry of work. It was a 30min interview, which maybe went ~1-2min over the mark. The questions she asked were specific to my resume, application and profile: 1. She asked about a social impact organization I was part of at college and what we did there 2. We spoke about the improvement in gender ratio in IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology – premier institutes

Chicago Booth Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / Second-Year Student / Skype
The interviewer (second-year student) put me at ease, congratulating me for making it to this stage and said that this is just to have a conversation to get to know me better. She only had access to my resume. Questions asked: 1. Walk me through your resume 2. Why MBA and why now? 3. Experience leading a team on a project? 4. Tell me about a time when you applied a real-life learning on how teams work to your job (the only question I hadn’t really prepped for). 5. ST/LT goals? 6. Anything else

Chicago Booth Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / Second-Year Student / Zoom
The interview was extremely friendly and conversational. The second-year student was engaged throughout the 60 minutes and was genuinely adding on top of my stories with her own experience at and beyond Booth. It was 50 minutes of questions by the interviewer and the last 10 minutes were spent in her answering my questions. It was very exhaustive and exhausting at the same time. 1. Tell me about yourself. 2. Tell me about a time you had to motivate your team – what strategies/ tools did you use? 3. Tell me about a time you disagreed with someone

LBS Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / Alumnus / Zoom
Interviewer was very friendly and asked a bunch of questions around my work experiences, how I handled conflicts/issues in the workplace, international experience and the standard Why LBS/Why MBA/Why now. There is a presentation portion, which I also found to be straightforward. I was given a topic that was relevant to my industry (tech) and asked to present on it. It really didn’t require any prep and I actually enjoyed this part of the interview. I was asked follow-up questions on my answer. Spent the last 10-15 minutes talking about my interviewer’s experience at LBS.

HBS Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / Adcom / On-Campus
I interviewed with an Adcom and had an observer present. The tone of the interview was conversational, mostly resume-based to begin with and a couple of deeper follow-ups on resume as per HBS’s typical interview style. Nothing was very surprising, although there were two questions that made me think a bit more before I responded. One of the questions had to do with how my client responded to my recommendation as a consultant; the follow-up was, what would I have done as a C-suite executive at the client’s company? The other question was about companies I wanted to join post-business

Stanford GSB Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / Alumna / Zoom
It seems like they run a pretty personal interview-matching process, where I got matched to an alumna who was female, was in the same pre-MBA industry (banking), and currently works in my target post-MBA industry (media). Interviewer only had my CV. Overall very relaxed, was more of a conversation rather than interview. Started quite naturally given the parallels between our experiences: on my background, why I decided to go into banking, why I want to go into media, why MBA. More structured questions included: – Tell me about a time when you put forward an initiative that aimed to

HBS Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / Adcom / On-Campus
The interviewer had no time to spare, and she jumped right into asking me about a failure that I wrote about in my essay. Her questions made it clear that she was well-informed on my entire application, but she had my resume pulled up for reference and asked me specific questions about lines from my resume. At one point I was surprised that she mentioned a very personal detail about herself, and there were also some spontaneous questions as I revealed some jobs I worked during college, which had not been on the resume. The questions were much more broad

HBS Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / Adcom / On-Campus
Adcom led interview with no observer. It was completely resume based and focused on my current work experience. No questions like why an MBA or why HBS. The interviewer did research before the interview and asked me very pointed questions about my company. Overall, it’s hard to prepare for this interview with canned answers, so definitely know your resume and application well.

Chicago Booth Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / Alumnus / Off-Campus
Interviewed with an alumnus who only had access to my résumé. It was a very conversational atmosphere where I felt my interviewer was really trying to get to know me and not just go through / over questions. He started by sharing his experience at school and his current job. Questions: 1. Tell me about yourself / walk-me through your resume. 2. Post-MBA goals? 3. Why an MBA? 4. Why Booth? 5. We went over 3-4 behavioral questions related to the accomplishments and projects I described on the first question. At the end we had

Stanford GSB Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / Alum / Zoom
Got an interview invite last week of Oct asking me to schedule it with the alum they paired me with within 7-10 days. Had to follow up with the alum a couple of times to lock down a time and get the Zoom invite. Interview itself was 50 min, with 15 min of that being me asking questions. The interview questions were behavioral, went through maybe 4-5 behavioral questions. After my initial answer for each question there were several follow-ups that were clearly aimed at getting to more of the “EQ” of the story – what was the reaction, was

HBS Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / Adcom / On-Campus
Had one interviewer and an observer. Interview was very fast-paced — there were maybe 20 questions that touched on every aspect of my work experience, 2 questions on my ECs that were very general, and 2 questions on my interests included on my resume. Observer did not ask questions, but verbally reacted throughout the interview, and I found myself recapping things the interviewer already knew from my app because I wanted the observer to have the context – in retrospect, I’m guessing this was a mistake. Even then, interview went by very quickly and was very conversational/friendly tone. No idea

LBS Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / Alumna / Off-Campus Hub
I interviewed with a recent alumna in the city I’m residing in at a coffee shop for the MBA2025 class. It was a very friendly atmosphere, and my interviewer did her best to put me completely at ease. We had nothing in common professionally or background wise aside from the fact that we reside in the same city. The key questions I remember were: – Tell me about yourself, and why an MBA? – What are your experiences with cultural diversity? In your opinion, what are some difficulties diversity in a workplace can cause? – What is the

Georgetown McDonough Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / Current Student / Zoom
The interview was pretty informal, but also like a traditional basic job interview. My interviewer was a current student getting her part-time MBA. I had a applied for the full-time program, but our career paths actually matched up pretty well, which was nice. She was clearly a bit new to the process of interviewing, saying something to the effect of “let me pull up the questions that McDonough wants me to ask you.” They were pretty standard: Tell me about yourself. Why McDonough? If you could be boss for the day, what would you do? Tell me about a time

Northwestern Kellogg Interview Questions & Report: Round 1 / Adcom-Alumnus / Off-Campus
I was interviewed by an Alum who also happened to be an Admissions Officer. The questions asked were quite focused and I felt a little jittery as it did not follow the structure I had prepared for (e.g. Tell me about yourself, Why MBA?, Behaviorals, etc.) The interview itself was blind. The interviewer only had my Resume. About 30 minutes of questions, followed by questions from me. Total interview was just under 45 minutes Here are the questions: – Why did you choose your college and the major? – Why did you choose your job and why that

CBS Interview Questions & Report: Early Decision / Alumnus / Zoom
The interview went pretty nicely. The school matched me with someone in the VC industry. I was nervous because I thought the wildly different background would work against me – quite the opposite. Questions asked were: Walk me through your background +a few follow ups from that. Why CBS? Why now? Why do you want to move back to NY? Where (location wise) would you want to be in a few years? What if in 5 years, something happens and the industry doesn’t end up where you think it will end up (I was talking about Google’s new privacy policies),

Tell me about an achievement as a leader. Tell me about a time you had conflict in a team. Tell me about a time you failed. Why Duke? What will you contribute to Duke Community? CBS Interview Questions & Report: Early Decision / Alumnus / Off-Campus
I was paired up with my interviewer via the Columbia portal. We set a date and time, but not a location until the day before. The interviewer was an active corporate executive in my area and I was flexible with the scheduling process. Interview was slated for 45 minutes ended up going 75. We met at a shop in town. 1. The interview started off with them telling me about their career progression and how they got where they are now. 2. Then the interview began with what questions I had for them or about CBS. 3. Why
