Wharton MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / Adcom / Off-campus Hub
I was the first interview of the day, in an Asia Hub location. We started with some very friendly chit chat about the city and the admissions committee member’s travels and experiences, for about 5 minutes before jumping into the interview. First, he outlined the structure of the interview and gave his brief background, noting that the interview is blind, i.e. he had not reviewed by application unless incidentally during the initial filtering. He then asked the following: Walk me through your resume Tell me about a time when you managed a team and one person was less motivated Tell

Columbia MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Regular Decision / Alum / Off Campus
Here are the questions that I remember: walk me through your resume what are your long term goals? how was moving to [non-U.S. city] describe a time that you faced a challenge tell me about your time as an undergrad why did you choose to work at [current employer]? what other schools are you applying to? why Columbia? It was pretty straightforward…the “ethical dilemma” question didn’t come up. Neither did the “strengths & weaknesses” question, so I felt pretty good about it all. The whole thing took an hour, but I spent probably 20-30 minutes asking her questions about Columbia

I arrived 10 minutes early and gave a copy of my resume to the assistant (I was asked to bring a copy). She checked me in and brought the resume to my interviewer to let my interviewer know I had arrived. The interview started a few minutes after my appointment time in the interviewer’s office and went for about 35 minutes. The atmosphere was relaxed. As an aside, there was a same-day info session and class visit, but I had done those while preparing my application so I opted out. My interviewer (Adcom) had pre-read my application. A blend of

Ross MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / Off Campus / Alum
I had two interviews: one with an alumnus and one with a staff member at the Tauber Institute. I submitted my application on Jan 4 and received an invitation to interview on Jan 17. My first interview was over the phone with a Tauber staff member. It lasted about 30 minutes and was extremely conversational. The questions she asked were: Why Ross? Why Tauber? What are your future career goals? Her questions and my answers took up fewer than 15 minutes, and the rest of the time was spent addressing my questions. I asked about MAP, the interaction of Tauber

I applied R2 and had my interview about a week ago. The admissions staff was very friendly and give you a free T-shirt when you show up. My NYU Stern Interview experience was very friendly and conversational. I actually felt like we spent an equal amount of time evaluating if I was a good fit for Stern and vice versa (see #3 below) My questions consisted of: Walk me through your resume Please tell me about your three greatest achievements. Detailed follow-up questions The interviewer then talked about all of the great things Stern was doing in social entrepreneurship (my field of interest) and the new Dean’s vision. She asked me if I had heard about some of these specific programs (explaining the programs when I didn’t

I interviewed during the afternoon of March 5th, sandwiched between a class visit and tour of the Kaufman Center. Applied January 14th and invited to interview on March 1st. My interview was with an assistant admissions director, who was familiar with my application and essays. It was a very casual discussion about my interests and why Stern is the right choice for me. First question was in regards to an interest from my resume. Tell me how you ended up in your first job out of undergrad. Tell me about something you love about what you currently do at your

I went to campus and this was my second time there. I was a reapplicant from last year that got waitlisted. The atmosphere was friendly, and the tone of the interview was very conversational. My interviewer had read my application (I think from both years) and was just asking the basic questions of what changed, why Stern, etc. I did a lunch with a current student afterwards but I would recommend doing this first because those are v. laid back and a good way to get info. Questions asked: Why MBA? What are your career goals? Why Stern? (a lot

The Stern interview seems to be remarkably consistent. Talked a bit about my travels to NYC and when I was leaving, what I had planned for the city I noticed this [hobby]. Tell me about that. Why Stern? Why MBA? How will Stern help you achieve your career plans? Tell me about your progression since college? Why do you want to go to school in New York? Wharton MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / Student / On Campus
I did my interview on campus on Tuesday. I was able to do the campus tour and class visit on Monday – it was very enjoyable. The students and staff were very welcoming, and I got to confirm a lot of the reasons for which I chose to apply to the school. The interviewer was friendly – she started with an introduction about herself. She then asked me to walk her through the professional section of my resume. I just gave a little background to explain why I chose to work in that field and then went into the details

Stanford GSB MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / Alum / Off Campus
I scheduled a breakfast meeting with a GSB alumnus this past Friday. Being that I had to drive 2 hours to get to the interview location, my interviewer might have been more flexible that usual when it comes to the meeting duration. It lasted for a little more than an hour and I was the one who did most of the talk. I did get 10 minutes or so to ask about his experience. Walk me through your resume. As I chose to start from my upbringing, he immediately asked how it affected as a person. The interviewer did interrupt

NYU / Stern MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / On Campus / Adcom
I interviewed on campus, and luckily, because I attended their Discover Stern Weekend I had been previously introduced to the interviewer. That gave me the option to meet one professor, attend a mock class, several students, and view Stern in both an academic and social setting. I would HIGHLY recommend that anyone from the tri-state area take advantage of all similar opportunities before your interview, since I was able to use these experiences in the ‘why stern’ question. You just seem lazy if you don’t (as told to me from current students). Here are some questions I was asked: How

Cornell / Johnson MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / Off Campus (Skype) / Adcom
My interview was via Skype — because of snow, I was unable to make it to campus as planned. The interview itself was quite formal — very much question-answer, but the interviewer did make an effort to transition nicely from one question to the next. There were no surprises for me, but I was glad I had done a little research on Skype interviews beforehand because it was definitely a little off-putting. Questions: Before we get started, tell me something about yourself that isn’t on your resume Walk me through your employment history and why you make the changes that

Thanks to this page, I walked into my interview feeling pretty good. Thanks, ClearAdmit! Good thing I brought extra resumes as my interviewer did not have mine.
