Georgetown McDonough Offers New FinTech Elective
Starting in spring 2018, Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business will offer a new elective course focused on fintech and blockchain. Specifically, FINC 258 will go into depth about how these technologies are disrupting financial systems and impacting business. The course has been designed to help students develop an understanding of the evolution and history of fintech and blockchain technology while also introducing other elements of financial technology. Inside the First MBA/MSDS Cohort at UVA Darden
This summer, the UVA Darden School of Business welcomed the inaugural cohort of its MBA/Master of Data Science (MSDS) dual-degree program. The cohort, consisting of seven students, assembled before most other cohorts to begin taking courses in programming, systems, and statistical computing over the summer session. The courses were offered at the UVA Data Science Institute and considered part of the first term of the MSDS degree. INSEAD Tops Bloomberg Businessweek Ranking of International MBA Programs
INSEAD pushed aside London Business School (LBS) to take the top spot in Bloomberg Businessweek’s annual ranking of MBA programs outside the United States, published yesterday. LBS slipped to second, followed by Spain’s IESE Business School, Oxford University’s Saïd Business School, and Switzerland’s International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in that order. Harvard Business School to Release Round 1 Decisions Today
Today’s the day! Harvard Business School will release Round 1 decisions at midday. MIT Sloan Launches New Business Analytics Certificate
To better prepare students for careers in data science and business analytics, the MIT Sloan School of Management last month announced the launch of its new Business Analytics Certificate. The certificate program comes in response to growing demand from employers and students for more rigorous academic content focused on data science. Southern California Wild Fires Cause UCLA Anderson Campus Closure
As wildfires rage in Southern California, UCLA Anderson School of Management was forced to cancel classes today. The Skirball Fire, named for the Skirball Cultural Center near where the fire is believed to have originated, broke out early Wednesday morning. It also caused the closure of the famed Getty Center and Museum. Top Tuck 2017 Employment Stat Takeaways: Salaries Up, Tech Growing, West Beckons
Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business today became the latest leading business school to share details from its Class of 2017 MBA Employment Report, revealing an all-time high average first-year base salary and signing bonus of $158,194. To get there, the mean base salary climbed to $127,986 from last year’s $123,934, and the mean signing bonus increased 4 percent to $30,208. The median salary and signing bonus, meanwhile, remained constant year over year, at $125,000 and $25,000 respectively. NYU Stern Receives $8 Million Alumni Gift to Promote Technology, Business, and Innovation
This week, NYU Stern School of Business announced the development of a new center to serve as a hub for cross-disciplinary collaboration and technology innovation. The 582 students in the Chicago Booth MBA Class of 2019 boast a chart-topping average GMAT score of 730—marking the 15th consecutive year of increases—and an average undergraduate GPA of 3.6. Latest Kellogg Employment Statistics Reveal Rising Interest in Tech
A record one in four—25 percent—of graduates from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management Class of 2017 headed off into jobs in the technology field, according to the school’s most recent employment report, released earlier this month.
