OP Likes Earned: 0 switching from Dartmouth, and I didn't do anything special to get off of the waitlist, just bided my time until I was told they wanted an update from me (0)

Same Boat Likes Earned: 0 Same scenario, I was all set to go to Booth. I got off the MIT waitlist almost 3 weeks ago with 100k scholarship. Hell yeah I took it! (0)

Anon Likes Earned: 0 There were a lot of ppl on here turning down big $$ scholarships from Sloan to go to Wharton, HBS, Kellogg etc. maybe Sloan just had more money put back in the bank to play with than expected this year? (0)

Anonymous Likes Earned: 0 Agreed with Anon 2 posts below. I would imagine that this would be related to Sloan's Round 2 deadline that is later than those of other schools. The intention was to attract applicants who otherwise would not have applied to MIT. Whether successful or not on the whole, this strategy would have resulted in more applicants who are very strong and do not rank MIT as highly but who would have received scholarships from MIT. An outsized number of these applicants would have declined the offer, freeing up scholarships for Round 3 and waitlist. (0)
