I’m between Ross and Cornell. Loved the culture. The final decision is making me crazy! Any thoughts???

anon32488 Likes Earned: 62 I think it comes down to what experience you want at a school. Cornell's experience will be far more intimate than at Ross. Other than that, if there is a particular group of students that you hit it off more with, I think that fit factor is also extremely important. From a consulting standpoint, you will have similar outcomes from both schools. While Ross has traditionally had better connections into consulting, Johnson's consulting program has really come to fruition in the last 5 years, with now 30+% of the class going to consulting and median salaries in consulting getting up to 165k (MBB level). As 52307 mentioned, it also depends on where you want to be post-mba. For me, the Ivy brand and intimate community make Johnson my choice if I was in your shoes. (2)

Location post-MBA (Cornell more Northest centric), what kind of class you'd prefer (Michigan just bit larger), are you a city person (Ann Arbor-Detroit) or okay in a more rural/college town (Ithaca), and what offerings fit you better for your goals (Ross MAP or Johnson Tech Campus/NYC offerings) will play into factors. I know that you are deciding between Ross and Cornell, but given your post MBA consulting goals, how come you are ruling out Darden? I also want to echo the points above. Do you have any geographic location preference post MBA? For example, do you want to be more oriented to Chicago or New York? Have you had a chance to chat with current students/alums about their experience? Best of luck! (1)

anon25769 Likes Earned: 25 OP here: I'm from Latin America. I want to stay in the US after MBA (no preference about geographic locations). My post-MBA career goal is either consulting or tech (one reason that I prefer Ross or Cornell over Darden, @eliot). I also had a chance to talk to many current students, the problem is that everyone loves your own school (bias). I want a hands-on experience, and I think that Ross MAP is similar to the Cornell immersions. Somehow I feel that Ross would be a better option but I can't rule out Cornell - because of its people, campus, brand, etc. (2)

anon10646 Likes Earned: 783 @OP. I think what @eliot meant with 'why ruling out Darden?' is that Darden's case method is a very consulting style method of teaching and preparation. I guess if you're balancing between consulting or tech it makes more sense, but 40/20% UVA -- 30/16% Cornell --- 35.7/24.5% UMich consulting/tech splits does not seem to rule UVA out. I can feel you on the home bias and one reason I haven't considered as much of my efforts to connecting with students (most who are visible to connect with will say good things and they only know their program intimately since you only go to one). If you want to work in the US post-grad I'd worry less about name prestige (UVA and Michigan are public Ivies anyways and mean as much in the US imo) since they're (the bschools) all in the high-teens in most rankings and instead consider the STEM designations which would help you get post-MBA in US, and maybe why you're doing Cornell/Michigan as I believe theirs cover more concentrations/specializations. I looked at both schools as well and MAP seems to be very good at an immersive experience, so if your gut is saying Ross and you like that style of teaching and experience, then don't let something like Ivy branding dissuade you. To go back to settings, Cornell's campus is nice, but perhaps unless you're coming from a rural setting at home it may be easier adjustment to Ann Arbor-Detriot than Ithaca. (1)
