I just sent adcomms a very polite email making my case; we'll see what they come back with. I think you're right that it could really increase the appeal, and the SF semester would lighten the strain on my family. (1)

Since you are seeking to pursue a tech entrepreneurship path on the west coast, a full ride at Haas is quite appealing. Having said this, HBS and Wharton also have strong networks in tech entrepreneurship and these networks could be quite useful if you are seeking to finance your venture. I strongly recommend that you do your due diligence by talking with current students and alums, particularly those that are following a similar path. (1)
