Top choices right now are Yale (tuition/fees net 115k cost) and Ross (net 67k cost). Would appreciate any thoughts especially about Ross vs. Yale and the culture or other aspects of these schools. Preference to end up in Seattle. Besides consulting, may consider general management roles. Pivoting from accounting. Really appreciate the podcast!

This is a close call, both programs should be able to place you in consulting and provide access to MBB. Kellogg would be a strong choice, too? (0)

beinion Likes Earned: 1 Thanks! I'll try to check what I can find out about alumni networks in Seattle on LinkedIn. In terms of fit, I'm not a sports fan so have slight concern about Ross culture/fit. Kellogg I know is highest ranked but the lack of scholarship is turning me off. With my stats and what I thought was a good career record, was applying hoping for full or close to full scholarship dollars somewhere, which didn't happen. Still very happy but paying full tuition just seems really expensive. (1)

anon10646 Likes Earned: 783 Sports may be a much bigger part of Michigan culture than somewhere like Yale, but I wouldn't necessarily say this is a negative for any non-sports person. Major sports events are basically a guaranteed class-wide inclusive social event. You don't have to know about sports or even go to the game, but still benefit from the socialness. You might even want to buy your student tix as you'll almost be guaranteed to be able to sell a couple games to a classmate who has someone visiting. I may be biased since I'm a sports person, but I feel the sports aspect tends to lend to the collegiate atmosphere and tend to help with alumni networks rather than a place you just took classes at once upon. But even then, while Ross may have a self-selecting cohort that leans to a Undergraduate 2.0 experience, likely to be plenty of others who aren't sports fans. Ann Arbor is a top rated college town and you should be able to cover some interests outside sports. Re: the choice there may be a very small MBB bump for SOM, so if you feel that program is a better fit for you and there is enough of a network for a PNW post-MBA, then ~$48k difference may be worth it. Reach out to second years at each program and use insider/school guides to get feel of culture/fit. (1)
