Notes:

Torn between Kellogg and Booth! IB and upper MM PE experience pre-MBA and would like to go back to upper MM PE post-graduation. No scholarships at either. Feel I would get a more well-rounded experience and network at Kellogg, but Booth is known for finance. Any thoughts?

anon25299 Likes Earned: 18 Congratulations! I don't think you can go wrong with either choice here. I would personally lean more towards Booth because of it's massive strength in finance. Schools tend to deny these tags (finance-school / marketing-school), but the real world implications certainly exist. Booth is little more suited for a career in PE from both academic and network perspective (network being the key word here because it is PE). (0)

grichmond Verified User. Likes Earned: 1235 Congrats on your offers from two great MBA programs! There is clearly no wrong choice here! With that said, given your prior track record in PE, and your cultural fit with Kellogg, I think heading there makes perfectly good sense. Both programs are absolutely superb - and well represented in the PE world (Kellogg has a very under-appreciated finance program). Further, if you already have a finance background from ugrad and your work exp. you might be seeking to acquire other skills in b-school too (management, strategy, marketing, etc.) and these are areas in which Kellogg really shines too. Finally, on a more minor, yet notable point, the new facilities at Kellogg have put the school right back on par with Booth - after many years of being inferior in that domain. Best of luck!

anon61310 Likes Earned: 43 Anon53515 is a troll. Agree with anon25299 and GRichmond - they're peer schools and have excellent programs. If your gut is telling you Kellogg go for it, you'll get more from the experience connecting with the community. (0)

anon12780 Likes Earned: 2 I think Booth is the way to go here, especially with PE. Also, I'm not sure that the culture difference you're anticipating is as strong as it might seem - Booth culture is very social and collaborative (per actual Booth students). A friend of mine works in PE in Chicago and Booth has a very strong presence among PE firms. (0)

anon23739 Likes Earned: 1 Easy choice for Booth. School culture is for 2 years, the strength of a school's network is forever. Booth's reputation in finance totally dominates Kellogg. While Booth and Kellogg may be peer schools for things like consulting or tech, Booth wins hands down when it comes to PE. (0)
