Met with a 2nd-year student in a meeting room tucked away in the admissions office. It lasted about 30 minutes with 5 extra minutes for me to ask her questions.
She informed me that this was a casual interview to get a candid perspective of each applicant.
Most of the questions she asked were prompted by my resume.
- Tell me about when you co-managed project X at work.
- Tell me about a teamwork experience you had at work.
- What are your long-term and short-term goals?
- Tell me about your competitive hip-hop dancing experience and how you danced in the Madison Square Garden.
- It seems you travel a lot. Tell me about your trip to Thailand.
The rest of the time she shared her summer marketing internship experience, and we discussed GSB’s Marketing curriculum – how it helped her internship, what classes and profs to take, and my interest in the new lab.
Then, we talked about job recruiting at the GSB, and how she got her full-time offer.
I was surprised she didn’t ask me:
- Why GSB?
- What other schools did you apply to?
