I am an international applicant currently on a US assignment in Houston. I work for Shell and I chose to do an on campus interview as I thought I could combine campus visit with interview.
It was a crisp 25 min interview with a second year student named Ms. Rachel Patton. It started with the usual pleasantries and moved onto the actual questions.
- She asked me to speak about my current job. I spoke about my two internships too as all my experience is connected.
- Then she asked me Why MBA and what are my goals.
- Then she moved onto Why booth and what would be my biggest challenge if I was accepted into booth.
- Then she specifically asked me about my long term goal which is to start my own strategic consulting business for the oil sector. She wanted to know what would be my biggest challenge in fulfilling this goal.
- She also asked me about how my team members would describe my leadership style.
- Then she asked me the why now question. and gave me about 10 mins to ask her of any questions.
I asked about flexibility of curriculum and how she benefited from it and about her experience with the clubs and what was her most challenging experience during her MBA. She also asked what I do outside of work.
I felt it was a good mix of conventional and unconventional questions and I thought it went well. I am hoping for a positive result.
