Interview with 2nd year student. Interview lasted 45 mins. She was extremely professional and made me feel very much at ease. I did not know that she was not adcom until the end of the interview. Good rapport and my use of humor made both her and me feel very conversational. She started by asking about my interest in painting which I had mentioned on my resume. Was a good icebreaker.
Questions:
- Tell me about how you got to this point? You seem to have had an interesting journey (grad school, biotech startup, ops/strat consulting)
- Tell me about how you resolved a difficult situation with clients?
- How did you make the transition from a startup to consulting? What skills did you need and how did you go about acquiring them?
- How did you gain the skills you needed to gain so much responsibility within your first consulting role over 3 years?
- Short Term/Long Term Goals?
- Non-profit involvement – how this ties with long term social enterprise goals?
- Why MBA?
- Why Chicago?
- Any questions? I had one
Lots of small questions/clarifications from her side – I left with the feeling that my personality and real self came out in the interview
