I was asked to interview with an alum. We met in the alum’s office
My interviewer was very warm and personable. We spoke for a few minutes about the weather (It was unusally cold that day). The interviewer explained to me the purpose of this interview and told me that the adcom wanted him to ask me a few specific questions and that he would follow up with some questions of his own.
From the type of questions I was asked on my essays, I understood that the interviewer had thoroughly read my application and essays (He did not read my recommendations). We spent about 20 minutes on these questions. He then asked the following questions
1. How has your leadership style evolved and what leadership skills do you hope to gain from HBS? 2. What kind of international experience do you have? 3. How will you contribute to Harvard and what was your first impression of HBS when you visited the school? 4. What inspires you the most and why? 5. Who is your favorite leader and a lot of follow-up questions on the leader I mentioned 6. What do you do outside work?
Then he asked me if I had any questions for him. I asked him about his experience as a student at HBS. The whole interview lasted for about 50 minutes, the interview escorted me to the elevator and wished me good luck.
