After the first round acceptance, I was informed that I would be contacted by the admin team who would provide me with the details of my interviewer. We then had to schedule an interview prior to the 30th of Nov.
The interview was at my interviewer’s office @ 8 am. My interviewer had graduated from LBS over 15 years ago, but has maintained good contact with the school. Our careers were not related, but we had both began in Engineering. Although it was scheduled for an hour, it went on for 2 hours (more because of both parties had alot to talk about than because of any negative reasons)
The interview is split into 3 sections.
Questions about the application/interviee: (my interviewer had obviously read my application well, as he had notes written down and had specific questions for things that he was interested in/wanted more examples on/wanted clarification)
- Why MBA? Why now? What if you are not accepted, what is plan B?
- Why LBS? Why haven’t you applied to anywhere else?
- What intersts you in LBS?
- Why have you made the career choices you have?
- What will you bring to your first year group study?
- What will you bring culturally as well as techinically?
- What do you do in your job, how is it relevant to what you want to do in the future? how will it help you at LBS?
- I had written about charity work, so he wanted to know more about how it is organized, what my role is etc
- How do you lead? give examples of faliure and how you have adapted to that
- What would your subordiantes say about you? have you had to struggle with either your subordinates or your boss?
- How are you cultuarly aware/diverse? give examples
The questions are nothing to get worried about, just make sure that you have a read over your application and CV so that you may rememeber what you wrote (seeing how it would be about a month or so between the time the application is submitted and the interview happens). Be prepared to explain what you do/future goals/why MBA + LBS
Second part is the presentation. A topic is given to the candidate, who has a few min to prepare then 5 min max to present. You are given a scenario/situation, you need to do a quick analysis, and present alternatives/explanations/strategy going forward. It is really nothing you can prepare for, it is just comon knowledge and presentation skills + command of the english language (the interviwerer told me that school knows essays are heavily edited by a third party so this is a good way to assess the english skills of the candidate)
Third part is any questions you have towards the interviewer. You should come prepared with a few questions that you have.
No feedback was given. Good luck to everyone!
