I am an international applicant. I got a interview waiver first but later a mail asking for a telephonic interview. The interview was exactly 30 mins long. The interviewer told me in advance that she has read only my resume, not my application. Here are the questions asked in actual order:- Tell me about your undergraduate experiences. Based on your experiences in college, when did you decide to join company X and why. Tell me about your work at company X. What is your most important contribution to your company? Have you held any leadership positions at work? Have you

Chicago Booth MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / Alumni / Off-campus
The alumnus is a 1983 graduate and a very big venture capitalist. I had expected him to be aggressive and ask difficult questions since my goal is to become an entrepreneur. He was in a board meeting when I reached his office. He came 45 minutes late, but then apologized. Contrary to my impression, he was very gentle and the interview was extremely relaxed. He had not read my resume or the interview guidelines sent my the school. He did so in my presence and humored that the school has asked him to ‘have an open mind’ and not ask

Wharton MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / On-campus / Second-year Student
I interviewed on-campus at Wharton with a second year student as part of the Round 2 application process. My interviewer walked me into a small interview room and stated in the beginning that she would be watching the time to not go over 30 minutes because the interviews were scheduled back to back. She was very friendly but her approach to interviewing was more of a question/answer format than I had been anticipating. Based on previous applicant experiences, I expected more of a conversation with interspersed questions. The questions I was asked were: Please tell me a little bit about

Wharton MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / Alumna / Off-campus
The alumnus was a 2004 graduate and the interview happened in a cafe. It was around 35 mins long. Then she started asking questions:- Tell me about yourself. Here apart from other things, I mentioned my interest in dance. UVA / Darden MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / Adcom
I interviewed on 16 Feb. The interview was with an ADCOM member. The only question was “tell me your story”. This is typically a 30-45 min interview and we are looking to get a better sense of who you are as an applicant. This leaves a whole lot of wiggle room in how you approach the question but this is the only “question” that was asked…everything else was guided based upon how you answered the question…From the 1st question in talking about myself I she asked about my major (why I picked it), why I thought I would be a

UVA / Darden MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 1 / Off-campus / Alumni / Admitted!
I was told by alumni and friends to prepare well for the 20 minute monologue in response to ‘tell me something about yourself’ opening. While I was getting ready to embark on the monologue, the first question came from the most unexpected quarters of my resume. I was asked – ‘What did you do differently that you were able to record highest sponsorship in your undergraduate festival’. My interviewer was as ex-Mckinsey Associate Principal and I guess he was adept at startling candidates. I was thoroughly probed on the reasons for choosing a US business school over IIMs (India) which

Wharton MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / Alumnus / Off-campus
I had an alumni interview with a class of 1996 alumn, in his office. I too found the interview very conversational, the guy was extremely friendly and enjoyed talking about the school and Philadelphia in general, as well as his family surprisingly. Here are *Short term goals Long term goals Explain more about the sector you work in (I come from a non-profit background) Extracurriculurs you participated in as an undergrad Imagine I am an admissions officer, and you need to sell me your candidacy. Wharton MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / Second Year Student / On-campus
I interviewed at Wharton on February 22nd on campus with a second year MBA student who was part of the AdCom committee. The interview took place in a small room and was very procedural. He had a list of questions in front of him that he needed to get through in 30 minutes. Those questions included: Tell me a little bit about yourself Why MBA? What’s your goal post-MBA? Why this post-MBA industry? Why Wharton? Give me some examples of leadership. Give me some examples of mentorship. What are some things you like to do outside of work? If you

IESE MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 3 / Video Conference / Adcom / Admitted!
I was interviewed through a VC, I was interviewed by an Adcom, who is also an IESE’s alumnae, her name was Martha, sorry but I do not remember her last name. Martha is a very nice person, she started the interview with some pleasantries, she even introduce herself by providing general details of her background. She described the interview process and asked if I was ready to begin. My interview lasted 45 minutes, I did not felt pressured at all, although it is kind of weird to be interviewed in a VC, it is not the same as being interviewed

Duke / Fuqua MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / On-campus / Adcom
I interviewed with an adcom member at Duke as a round 2 applicant. Interviews for US residents who live on the east coast are strongly recommended but are actually requested by the applicant and are not invitation only. I had a 45 minute on-campus interview, and it was my first time visiting Fuqua. I took a tour and spoke to current students during lunch and in the waiting area before my interview. Preparation for my interview was done by thoroughly reading Fuqua’s website, reviewing my application, and looking through the interview database at accepted and clearadmit.com. After I had the

Chicago Booth MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / On-campus / 2nd year student
I am an international applicant currently on a US assignment in Houston. I work for Shell and I chose to do an on campus interview as I thought I could combine campus visit with interview. It was a crisp 25 min interview with a second year student named Ms. Rachel Patton. It started with the usual pleasantries and moved onto the actual questions. She asked me to speak about my current job. I spoke about my two internships too as all my experience is connected. Then she asked me Why MBA and what are my goals. Then she moved onto

Duke / Fuqua MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / AdCom / Telephonic
I interviewed with an Associate Director of Admissions who specializes in Joint Degree programs. In my application, I indicated interest in the joint MBA/MEM program (Nicholas School). I haven’t yet applied to the joint program. I received an email invitation to interview by phone (I am active duty military stationed on the west coast) and was happy to have that opportunity. My interview was very much a conversation, friendly and relaxed, and I don’t think I missed out by not having a face-to-face interview. Format/Questions I called the main AdCom phone number and was connected quickly with my interviewer. He

Chicago Booth MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / Phone Interview / Adcom
Originally Shared by Choc Heaven As I’m an international applicant, and Booth could not find any available alumni in my country, I had a phone interview with an admissions representative. We set up the time and date well in advance.. and here’s what the conversation was like (about 35 mins long); no surprises, usual MBA interview questions – Why MBA? Why Now? Tell me about yourself starting off with early years. Why did you switch from x job to x job? What surprised you when moving from x job to x job? Why Booth? How would you contribute?

UNC / Kenan-Flagler MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 3 / Adcom / On-campus
I interviewed on campus on January 27, 2009. The interview was conducted with, Donna, a member of the Admissions Committee in their offices. We spoke for a little longer than the stated 30 minutes, and it was very conversational. Some questions included: Walk me through your resume. Your GPA seems low. Are there any extenuating circumstances or explanations for that? Why are you interested in getting your MBA? She seemed genuinely interested in getting to know me as a person and finding common ground, and often something I would say would spark her interest and we would discuss some aspect

Chicago Booth MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / Alum / Off-campus
I met my interviewer, an alum, at Starbucks on Friday February 13th (not the most auspicious of interview dates!) at 1 PM. He was about 1 minute late and for this he apologized, which I thought was very polite. He also offered me a drink, but I had already bought an orange juice. I was dressed business casual and so was he. The interview was very conversational and he was very forthcoming; he told me that he would be evaluating me on five dimensions: my intellectual ability/curiosity, my reasoning for wanting an MBA, my reasoning for wanting an MBA now,

UCLA / Anderson MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 2 / Alum / Off-campus
I met my interviewer in his office. Our chat was reasonably short — less than an hour, I would say. The interview itself was light and extremely conversational. At the end my interviewer talked about his experiences at Anderson for about 10 minutes. Among the questions he asked me were: Walk me through your resume. What do you like about your current job? What do you do for fun? Why an MBA? Why go to business school now? Why Anderson? What first got you interested in Anderson? Which other schools did you apply to? Are you applying to other California

IESE MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Adcom / Video Conference
I had a video conference interview with Isabella (AdCom) from IESE. She rang me up at my place of work in Australia. The interview lasted approximately an hour, and was not a stressing experience. The videoconferencing room at IESE appeared very small, meaning that the interview took up most of the screen on my side. This was a welcome change from business video conferences, and I felt it made the interview more personal. That being said, some of the questions were unexpected (despite my best attempts at preparing). The main prompts were (roughly in order of appearance): Briefly introduce yourself

Columbia MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Alumni / Off-campus / Regular Admission
I had my interview on January 15 and have not yet heard a decision from Columbia. I was invited to interview on January 6 and as per the instructions, I sent out e-mails requesting interviews to the three alumni who came up in my regional search. Only one responded and we set up an interview for the next week at his place of business. The interview itself was extremely informal. My interviewer only directly asked me two things about myself: Walk me through your resume. Why Columbia? I cannot stress enough how important it is to have specific reasons for

MIT / Sloan MBA Admissions Interview Questions: Round 1 / Off-campus / Accepted!
My interview went exceedingly well from the beginning. The interviewer explained that her role was to be my advocate to the admissions committee, and that my task was to give her good material so that she could effectively make my case. This put me at ease, and surprisingly, the interviewer wasn’t as stone-faced and dig-downy as the MIT interview guide had led me to believe. I was accepted in Rd 1. Here are the questions that I remember: Tell me about something you’ve done that you’re proud of. Tell me about a time you failed. Tell me about a time

The interview lasted approximately 40 minutes. It was conducted on campus by a member of the adcom, Jessica Luchenta. She was very nice and the interview went quite well. The following questions were addressed: Walk me through your resume. Why an MBA? Why Anderson? Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years? Give me an example of a time you displayed leadership? Has anyone ever been critical of you in a work setting? How so? What do you now do to avoid doing it again? Give me an example of when you failed to accomplish an objective? What
