I reached Chapel Hill the previous night and stayed with a friend of mine, who is a current student of KF. I simply loved the city with all its fall colours. My interview was scheduled for 10 AM. I reached the admissions office about 30 mins in advance and met a few current students who dispalyed a very collaborative nature which I think is one of the hallmarks of KF.
At 10 , I met Ed Davis who was going to interview me. He is a really nice chap who spoke a bit about how he got associated with KF and what we were going to do for the next 30-35 mins.
- He asked me to start with my college experiences and walk him through the resume about my career.
- He said I see a lot of team experiences which come along with the role , so can you talk to me about your leadership experiences. I gave him an example of a project that I led and how I motivated my team mates etc ….
- For the same question I asked him if I can explain about my community involvement. He asked me to go ahead as he was about to ask anyways. So I took a minute or two to explain my initiatives and how they reflect on my leadership ability.
- What are my career goals and how KF would help.
- A bit about my long term career goals in Indian Retail and if I thought about an alternative position. As I wanted to be in the consulting industry in the long term , he asked me if I had thought about becoming an operations practitioner in the retail sector.
- How did you end up applying to KF , what factors influenced your decision. I spoke about my meeting with Sherry Wallace , my visits to Chapel hill, interactions with the professors , club leaders and other students. I also spoke about consulting opps at KF and its leadership development programs , STAR projects etc …
I ended the discussion with some concluding statements. Later I attended an information session with current students which was really nice. However, for people who havent visited chappel hill previously , I would suggest attending the session and then the interview.
Hope this helps.
