I interviewed with a second year student for an on-campus interview. He started by providing an overview of how the interview was related to the overall application process, and of the structure of the interview itself, just like in the previous posts. The questions were the standard MBA interview questions.
Please run me through your resume.
What are your career goals and how will an MBA help you achieve them? Why now?
Why Wharton?
How will students remember you at Wharton?
Could you talk about a time in work where you had to overcome an obstacle?
What do you want the admission committee to know about your appication?
Do you have any questions for me?
The interviewer was very polite and friendly, though I have to admit to that it was very hard for me to read him, and even though I thought that my answers were relatively good, I do not feel like I connected with the interviewer. In the spirit of full disclosure I was denied for admission. Shortly after the Wharton interview, I had an interview at another school (GSB) which went much better. Even though the questions were almost identical, the difference in my mind was that I was more relaxed and had fun with the GSB interview. Hope this helps!
