Question about Undecided

Is anyone still waitlisted at Wharton and not heard back? They mentioned that we should hear back from them by July 26th. The chances still seem low

It is surprising that they haven't released remaining waitlisters, but perhaps they will do so this week. I just want to share my thoughts and decision on why I have decided to attend bschool next year instead and what everyone else thinks. I just think it makes no sense to attend bchool this semester and have fewer opportunities for internships and by the time I graduate the economy will still be recovering. Also, the teamwork aspect of bschool is what makes it fun and you build lifelong connections. For how much money you spend on bschool is it really worth it to attend if you don't have these opportunities. I'd rather wait and attend when things are back to normal, I've see 2008 and how people struggled to get internships and jobs from bschool. So let me know your thoughts, I strongly urge everyone to really think through their decision to attend this fall

anon16266 Likes Earned: 16 This is something I have been grappling with since COVID became a part of our collective thoughts. You raise some really great points and in no way at all is this the experience that I had hoped for out of an MBA - something that I have been looking forward to for quite some time and have worked hard to even get to a point of being able to make this decision. In the end, I decided to pursue matriculate this year. Personally, I wasn't feeling fulfilled in my career and I couldn't think to let another year go doing something I truly didn't enjoy. This is an unchartered territory for students and the school. At the end of the day, tangible business/leadership skills you gain from an MBA will be successful regardless of the economic challenges - with an MBA you are thinking long-term. (5)

anon22172 Likes Earned: 66 Everyone has individual circumstances. Some people might be in a job they could withstand for an additional year, and postpone their MBA plans without hesitation. Others may decide the time is now since they are unhappy in their career or simply lost their job due to Covid. The real question becomes how long will Covid affect the programs? It’s certainly possible that we could be dealing with it in some format by the time next years class matriculates. Personally, it takes significant time and effort to get into the program of your dreams so you’d have to ask yourself if you want to go thru that process again (assuming you can’t get granted a deferral). (5)

The length and job opportunities you can get after graduation are very relevant, but you should also consider the fit you feel with the schools. I really felt more comfortable with INSEAD students and with the core values that the school promotes. (0)

what Likes Earned: 0 Depends on what you want to do. If something mainstream like consulting or banking - I'd take Columbia with $$$. Recruiting out of any top school for those jobs is roughly the same. For the nichier jobs... (e.g. elite hedge funds, PE), Wharton. (0)

Lots of factors Likes Earned: 0 Congrats on these results! I'd ask yourself a few questions: are you looking for an urban MBA experience (and the costs associated with it)? Are you trying to work in consulting on the East Coast? The Northeast part of the East Coast? How important is campus community to you? On the surface, Tuck is probably the strongest all around program on your list, but depending on how you answer the above questions you might lean towards another option. Have you visited these programs for welcome/admit events? That can be helpful too (as long as you recognize that they are in sell mode). Best of luck! (0)

Anon Likes Earned: 0 I would go to Stern.. Hanover is isolated, has extreme weather and is a compromise of 2 years of life.. No night life.. But thats just me.. All consulting firms have office in NYC.. You will have to come to NYC anyways.. Stern screwed their rankings as they did not report GMAT.. Otherwise Stern is comparable to Tuck.. (0)

Guys, some help here please! I'm choosing between McCombs, Fuqua and Anderson. I want a great MBA experience where the program and city is a lot of fun alongside going to a reputable school as it will also be my only break from my working life.
1. Where would you go for these criteria?
2. Is your top choice different by a landslide or a small margin?

Same Likes Earned: 0 Crazy - I could be choosing between these same schools round 2. For me it is coming down to Fuqua v Anderson and a substantial scholarship could sway me either way. If I get no money, I'm going to Fuqua since I want to end up on the easy coast (0)
