Question about All Schools

Do MBA schools factor in visas and future sponsorships in their decisions? Would people have H1B/L1/H4/TN visas have a higher chance for admission because of less sponsorship concern and higher employability?

grichmond Verified User. Likes Earned: 1342 I do not believe this to be a much of a factor in the admissions process.

Keep in mind that most top MBA programs in the USA are now STEM certified, which comes with up to three years of work (OPT) following graduation. This means that non-citizens can stay and theoretically have their employer attempt H1-B sponsorship over the course of those three years. Things are similar in the UK, where MBA grads can automatically stay for two years and work post-MBA.

Of course, schools will still assess the candidate’s career plan, and the feasibility of that plan - but that usually comes down to whether or not the candidates plans align well with their past experiences and demonstrated interests, so it’s more than just geography or visa eligibility.

(I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that this is perhaps subject to change in light of the new administration in Washington, but for now I don’t see one’s visa status as a factor in MBA admissions at top schools.)
