@trashcan90 - Keep in mind that a 625 on the GMAT FE is roughly a 680 on the old exam, so not entirely out of bounds - especially if this candidate had an otherwise strong profile. More importantly, test scores tend to vary quite a bit by region of the world - since not every part of the world uses these kinds of exams extensively in high school and beyond. trashcan90 Likes Earned: 7 keep in mind that everybody knows what kind of demographics get in with these scores. 680 for 99% of white guys would be a monumental NO. or asian american. or indian. ...and its not the region but life opportunities that dictate your GMAT performance. you can be from mexico or whatever but went to Ivy. grichmond Verified User. Likes Earned: 1404 The PDF I linked to above illustrates that there are indeed significant regional differences with regards to testing (with plenty of data to back it up).

In my experience as a former admissions officer at Wharton, I can say that my colleagues and I were well aware of these regional differences when assessing applicants from different markets.

And yes, socioeconomic background certainly plays a role in testing outcomes as well - but it's far from the only factor.

In short, I am not convinced that the OP's gender makes much of a difference - which seemed to be your assertion.

In fact if schools started taking into account socioeconomic backgrounds, then it would be far more fair. Instead you have rich kids from mexico chile or whatever getting in with low scores under the pretense of diversity. Your PDF shows nothing about life opportunities - just passport Yeah gender makes all of the difference. Lets be realistic here. (1)
