@trashcan90 - Keep in mind that a 625 on the GMAT FE is roughly a 680 on the old exam, so not entirely out of bounds - especially if this candidate had an otherwise strong profile. More importantly, test scores tend to vary quite a bit by region of the world - since not every part of the world uses these kinds of exams extensively in high school and beyond. And yes, socioeconomic background certainly plays a role in testing outcomes as well - but it's far from the only factor.
In short, I am not convinced that the OP's gender makes much of a difference - which seemed to be your assertion.
