Why do you want to study at Imperial College Business School and how will you contribute to our community? (500 words / 2,500 characters maximum)
Applicants may want to begin by thinking about an element or two of the Imperial community with which they find the greatest resonance, and should also consider which are already evident in your activities and accomplishments to date. In fact, one to two examples (100-150 words total) that illustrate their skills and potential to make a positive impact should be woven in to selected means of contributing. Consider this in light of the idea that past behavior supports future success. Of course, the majority of this response should center on your planned activities and impact as an Imperial MBA student. It would be wise to discuss your behavior outside of the classroom and identifying specific student organizations in which you might take a leadership role. You should note that speaking convincingly about your ability to contribute will likely require some informed sense of the areas of opportunity and need on campus. Following a brief assertion of your selected value(s), you’ll need to provide a supporting example. Consider a situation where you demonstrated the value, whether in your personal or professional life. It can be feasible to highlight more than one–for instance, perhaps you needed to work with a diverse team to exceed expectations on a given project. This could cover the full list of values–respecting the diverse backgrounds of your teammates, collaborating, maintaining integrity, innovating a solution and driving the team towards an excellent result. Summarize the (positive) result of your actions in the example and impact you had, whether on your company, industry or on others. Space permitting, you may conclude with how you plan to apply these values in the future–showing how you expect to continue your impact.
